What an irritating shop. I go in, choose my item, go to the cash desk to pay for said item. But lo, no one has graced the cash desks - any of the 7 or 8 of them in the place *remained calm*. So, I meander to the jewellry counter, where one harrassed looking woman is directing everyone who approaches to go to the 'auto card payment screens over ( Read more... )

I have found these situations have saved me money on a few occasions. I go in all wanting something (not needing it just wanting to HAVE it!?!?! and not in a "but I really like it" kinda way either) spend ages trying to locate it, line up and pay but if I start to lose my patience, if the queue takes too long coz the till person is being really fucking slow or unattentive to the customers waiting, I'll drop whatever I'm holding pretty much where I stand and walk out.
Last week I went to Woolworths and picked up 2 dvds and a ps2 game that they have been advertising as "in stock". They told me the game wasnt in stock so I dumped all the items and walked lol. They kept asking me why don't I still get the dvds but if I've come in for a set list of things if I dont get all of them I wont get any unless it's something I HAVE to get. lol.
Is that like a form of OCD or some other strange behaviour?

no it sounds like the kind of self control i wish i had. example - i go out today to buy a kettle and a clock (yawn) got fed up in argos; went to next;bought a jacket, a top, a pair of jeans, loads of kit for the baby, then i went to asda and bought the kettle and the clock :oS

slight dent in the budget now. i blame argos; i would be better off this month if they hadnt upset me this morning *pout* hehehehe

there, i absolve responsibility for my spendthrift behaviour :oD

Extremely silly place!

While a lot of people do have debit/credit cards these days as you well know some don't. Plus some people still like to deal in real money anyway. They are totally barmy for excluding these people.

you are right. i think at the last count, bankruptcies are at their highest for decades in this country, certainly at a very high level in this town, so loads of people dont have cards. why is cash looked upon so dimly anyway??? madness :o/
