I love David Tennant. He has got to be one of the most hilarious people on the planet. Not to mention very talented actor. My one complaint about him was that he was nothing like Barty Crouch Jr. of the book. He was so, so, so wrong. He was crazy rather than snivelling. But I have a feeling that it wasn't his fault (unless he never read the book), but more the fault of the director that totally botched that movie. I agree, though, that he's so amazing as the Doctor. He plays it with such pathos and humor. I loved him in Casanova, too.
