Anyway, with all TV and movie adaptations of books, you can't expect perfection. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Eh, that's actually my problem...I'm totally incapable of letting go the book to enjoy the tv (or movie). :|
I can easily do the opposite, if I enjoyed a movie or a TV show based on a book, I often go and read the book (and I normally end out liking the book, too); but if I read the book first, I just can't enjoy the TV/movie version unless it's...well...perfect.

There are exceptions ("Room with a View" for example), but I'm usually too anal to enjoy a tv version that doesn't literally follow a book I like. :|

I've read the books, but I'm not a fan. I dislike her writing style and how she turned Bill into a jackass. The show is so much more enjoyable to me. It's campy and bad but awesome.

Eh, they're not my favorite books evah, but I do like them in a "campy and bad but awesome" way. And I never liked Bill to begin with (too "normal" and kind of wimpy), so I was thrilled when she dumped him. :D:D:D

P.S. go to the doctor,

I haven't actually read the books or watched the series yet. One of the downsides of being in a country that gets everything last =[
I have wanted to watch it tho..since people on my flist seem to have given nothing but good reasons for me to watch it..and from what I've seen of it it does look good....it's just a case of me finding a way to watch it that doesn't involve downloading it. =/

Eeeh, it's not like I could watch it live either.... ;))

*loves her internet connection*

It does look good! And if I wasn't such a freak I'd probably be all over it (I was in the Buffy fandom for ages for christ's sake!)... I guess I'll just have to wait and see... :-)

Yeah it seems like many people can only watch it by downloading it....or watching it on youtube. =] And I'd download it if my dad didn't complain at me using all the bandwidth =/

lol it does. I know what you mean about being a buffy freak....though I was both Buffy and Angel. I just find myself comparing every vampire show I watch now to them. Like I was watching Moonlight and all I can think of is how similar it is to Angel. I can't help it ^_^

I loved both Buffy and Angel, too...best written shows ever! :x:x:x

I literally just finished reading All Together Dead and Club Dead. I like the books but I tend to dip in and out of them - I don't own any.....yet :). They remind me of the Stephanie Plum books from Janet Evanovich and I love their easy escapism.

I don't particularly ship Sookie with anyone but I definitely agree about Bill and I'll be interested to see what happens with you-know-who now that their connection is stronger.

I saw the pre-air version of the pilot and I didn't mind it at all. I haven't read the first book in a long time though, so I was able to just watch the show without picking up all the things that were "wrong". I don't know if I'll keep with it because I'm not sure I completely buy Anna Paquin as Sookie but I'm going to stick it out for a few episodes.

Yes! That's a great analogy! :D

I didn't ship Sookie with anyone up until "Dead to the World", then I totally fell in love with you-know-who, and now I'm a total shipper! ;))

I read the first book a long time ago too...so maybe I'll be able to watch the show without being so damn picky... :-)

I've seen the first two episodes and thought they were okay. Not great but it's early yet. I haven't read the books yet but I did just order the first one to try it out.

If you like Buffy (loved it!) then you may be disappointed by this series, so far the writing isn't as good, but again it's only two eps in.

I'd say give it a try and see what you think.

Having read all the books, I can easily see that True Blood can't help being very different from Buffy...but I guess I could like it very much if I wasn't such an anal freak... ;))

Yep, I think I'll do that...

I tried reading the first book, but have had difficulty finishing it. I don't know what it is about it that has impeded my progress.
I haven't watched the show yet. I d/led the first two episodes but that's as far as I've gotten.
It upsets me when a book is adapted to tv/movie. The writers take liberties and always change too much, IMO. Case in point: Twilight. From the previews, it in no way resembles the book.

I sort of know what you mean...it was a slow process, for me too. I started to really like the series after the third book and things kept getting better from there...I think you should give it another try. ;-)

Yes, yes! I feel exactly the same way...I always end out focusing on all the things that are wrong (different from he book) with the tv/movie versions, so I can never enjoy the final product even when it's actually quite good. :|
