So, yesterday was really, really hot and humid then tonight at 5 am we got a freaking thunderstorm with heavy rain and even some hail. Now it's windy, definitely colder and still freaking humid.

When did we became the tropics? WHAT THE FUCK, WEATHER? :|

In other news, I just finished the latest Rachel Vincent "Werecats" book: Prey and I ( Read more... )

*randomly jumps at you*

But, apparently, I lose at life because, despite being a bookseller, I didn't know who Viki Petterson is! I need to wiki Viki. (Oh, lame.)
Despite that, I so know what it's like to wait for something like that, and when you have it, you just can't find the way to start. It's either that you start immediately and swallow it whole, or you procrastinate for whatever reasons - angst and heartache are as good reasons, as any, so you're not totally weird. QED.
Oh, but I hope the reason for you not standing angst and heartache is not that you have too many of both. :-(

On the other hand, it seems that weather kills us both. O_o

Betti! ♥

*squishes with love*

Eeeeh I actually don't think many people know her (Urban Fantasy freaks aside...), but I adore her series and I wish she had the success she definitely deserves. :-)

Exactly! It's like...a part of me has such high expectations that it's almost afraid to read the new book and being disappointed, another part is sure that it's going to be awesome but (knowing Viki) it's going to be terribly angsty...and I have to be in the right mood to read angst, or I'll be depressed for the whole week. ;))

Oh, but I hope the reason for you not standing angst and heartache is not that you have too many of both.Oh, no...I'm fine! :-) It's just that I almost never like angsty stories (I'm a wimp) and it's a testament of Pettersson's talent that I can read (and enjoy) her ( ... )

Thanks for the recs. I'm currently enjoying of Agatha Christie's Poirot books. Nothing beats good old Poirot and his little gray cells! :)

How are you these days anyway? I'm still here in England, looking for a job.

E! *waves*

I'm sure you'll love both series if you'll give them a chance! :-)

Oh, I adore Agatha Christie, and especially Poirot's novels. I think she's utter genius, you can never get wrong with her. ♥

I'm ok, doing a totally boring job (but at least I have one!) and counting the days (15!) to the beginning of my vacation-time...I cannot wait!

Good luck with the job search, I'm crossing my fingers for you!! ♥

I see your weird weather and raise you. It's been strangely cold down here, way too early. And on the back of drought and then severe storms. WTF, weather is exactly right.

Oh yes, I am completely with you on finding the right time to read. I've set aside books I've know will be angsty and read funny ones first just because I want to hold the heartache off. It's always worth it, though, when I do finally come to read it.

Oh, I'm sorry about your crappy weather! I really hope things will go back to "normal" soon...I'm freaking tired of rain and humidity!! :|

Exactly! I think I'll wait till I'll be on vacation, so I'll be able to focus all my attention on it...and I won't actually have time to angst over it because I won't stop reading it till I'm done! ;-)

So, basically, you need to get a Twitter account. Or, if you have one, message me your name, so we can follow one another.

The reason for the above: I was in the middle of reading Prey, which made me tear up BTW, and had a total "WTF is Faythe's age?" moment. So, pulled up Twitter, asked RV what her age was, and within 5 minutes, she responded with the accurate information. Continued on my way, all geek happy that technology can provide answers so quickly, and that my reading time was barely interrupted ( ... )

I didn't have one, but I just created it! :-)

My name there is "wordseater"...I still have to understand how that thing works, tho...*ponders*

I love how some authors are more than willing to take the time and respond to readers' questions. It makes me appreciate them (and their writing) all the more. :D

So true! It's awesome!! :D:D:D

In other news: READ BOOK 4 SO I CAN FREAK OUT WITH YOU!!!! I hope it doesn't turn you off the series.

OMG is it that bad? I'm not entirely spoiled, but I've read some of the Amazon reviews and I'm kinda scared now. :|
I'm afraid it'll be too depressing...I don't mind a bit of angst (ok, I usually hate it, but I could stand it if it's written well), but I need, need, need some hope at the end of the book. I need to know that's not all sadness and desperation, that there's a light at the end of the tunnel...otherwise I won't see the point of reading more ( ... )

I can't find you...it says you don't exist O_o Twitter was really confusing for me at first, but after I got the hang of it, I decided I liked it better than all of the other social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook, etc.). Twitter just cuts out all the fluff and gets down to it. Plus, so many authors are on there...love it ( ... )

WTF. :|
I just added you, so hopefully now you'll see me! I hope I'll get the hang of it soon...right now it all looks like a random pile of even-more-random SMS...*ponders*

I didn't think that Book 4 was necessarily bad, but it will shake off readers who only follow the series for certain people/events/situations. I read the books for the writing, so I'm not so easily deterred.

Uhm...I'm very much a "character-driven" kind of reader, a good plot is always a bonus, but good characterization + good writing are the two essential elements that will make me fall in love with a book.

it kind of feels as though she's jamming every, single idea (for this series or others) into the Zodiac world, because she's worried that she won't have the chance to explore it elsewhere.

Ouch, I agree that something like that can get pretty annoying, especially if you got really invested in the world-reality she portrayed in the first three books (which is kinda the case for me)...

This series has me so ( ... )
