My trip (day 1): "You'll have to stop the pump yourself, it won't stop on its own..."

Wednesday morning, I woke up early and bustled about, making sure everything was in order before I headed out the door. After a glorious two hour commute into work, I got everything finished up here at work, and was essentially just biding my time until noon. As soon as noon hit, I was out the door, making pit stops at only the ATM, the gas station, and Mickey D's before hitting the wide open!

My travel route for Wednesday basically consisted of taking route 90 West from Waltham to past Buffalo, NY, so I knew my travel route could possibly get tedious. So I started up my music almost right away, which included NYC Underground Vol. 3, Paulina Rubio, Faith Hill, Indigo Girls, Erasure, and a few others that escape my mind at the moment :)

I stopped at a random rest area in NY to (you guessed it!) paint my nails... Why, you may ask? Because I hadn't had a chance to do it the night before, and damn it, I'm a geek, let me be!

Then, I continued along 90 West, with my car being pelted by the strong winds that day. Occasionally, my little Neon and I wandered through a snow flurry, but the snow never lasted more than 20 or 30 minutes. The exits were few and far between (though at least I had been expecting this!), and just as I was driving through the tail end of a beautiful red and gold sunset... behold! The lights of Buffalo were upon me! I was ecstatic to be near a big city after all of the nothingness I had been driving through! I paid my outrageous-but-understandable $10 toll and reveled in seeing in exit every mile or so.

And then, once I got through Buffalo... it was back to nothingness. Bah. I was pretty sure that if there really was a city called West Bumf*ck, that this would be it. But I was close enough now where I knew it wouldn't phase me.

Finally, I was off the highway! I decided to stop and get some gas, since I was running pretty close to E, when I encountered something that made me think that I had transcended time and space on my trip... The gas pumps were OLD. Not even just no credit card reader, not even just no digital screen, nope, old school rolling numbers, one actual pump for each type of gas (87, 89, 93). I went inside to prepay (being the city gal that I am) and the guy told me that I would have to stop the pump on my own at $20. *shakes head* I felt so... spoiled, I think... lol

After a bit more driving, I finally arrived at my destination! I slid my way across the icy roads to Phil's abode, where I finally was face to face with the person I'd been talking to online for the past three years (damn, I feel old, lol) After I unloaded my stuff, we slid into town to get some food. We placed an order for some stuffed crust from the Pizza Slut, and then headed over to my first ever Wegmans, where I amazed in awe (well, not really, but still!) over being in a new, albeit not too different, grocery store... We brought the yummy stuffed crust back to his place where it was quickly consumed, and watched the first half of the Cowboy Bebop movie.

Finally, when the toothpicks were no longer holding my eyes open, I headed off to bed and passed out right quickly.

Hopefully coming soon to a theater near you, Mon voyage (day 2): "And across the street from that Starbucks, in the exact same building as that Starbucks, was a Starbucks!"
