Owl to Luna Lovegood

Dear Luna,

I am now a lady of leisure, residing in a rather splendid hotel in Venice. Of course, this sounds far grander than it actually is - and no, Val hasn't thrown me out. I stayed in Pavia for a week as a guest, and due to protocol must actually live elsewhere until the wedding. It's quite odd; back to hiding, in a way, like we were at ( Read more... )

Dear Exotic Foreign Fiancee,
Do stop feeding the pigeons they don't really need the encouragment (sp?) and gloves are far too fussy really. I lose them all the time. I hope you have much better luck with them.

Remus is doing something he has to do, one that takes him very far away at the moment. I'm spending most of my time devising lesson plans, and studying the theory of mass displacement in transfiguration. As you can see I'm giddy with excitement. Do send me a photo of you? I'd like to see something of Venice, even if it is just very fat pigeons.

My love to all.

Luna.

enclosed is a photograph of a smiling, waving Padma taken beside a less-than-happy looking statue.

Dear Massively Displaced,
As you can see, pigeons like art so much they cannot help but make comments all over it. Also, as you can see, I have failed to lose either glove. This is fortuitous indeed, since I rather like them.

Give my love to Remus, when you see him. I've read all of the English papers since we left for India and can guess he's not having an easy time of things.

Do you think you might tear yourself away from the excitement of transfigurational theories to meet me in London some time next week? Because I need to see Daddy, and he and P are in London. And I'd LOVE to see you.

Love,
Padma

PS Are you coming to the masque at New Year?

Dear Pigeon Fancier

I would love to see you! And your gloves, of course. I have been working on a small gift for you and Valerius, though I suspect it will probably take a long time to finish. Apparently silk thread is very attractive to nifflers.

Things are very quiet here, though that is actually a good thing. I hope that Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall recover, and are back to their old selves soon. Professor McGonagall worries me almost as much as Professor Snape. They are fragile. And it is a bit like discovering that the ice you are standing on is thinner than you imagined--and cracking already.

I cannot help but wonder what it will be like for you. Will you be bored, Padma? Being a Countess does not sound at all fun. It sounds a bit like being Minister of Magic, except you get nicer clothes.

I have to run. It seems that there's a mole in the greenhouse. So Michael Corner says. I don't want him to kill it.

Love to you, and Valerius

Luna

Dear Mole Saviour,

I think being a Countess would be very boring indeed, if it weren't for the Count that went with the job. Seriously, I do intend to do more than sit around being Graceful; even if that were possible, I owe it to my gluteus maximus - both of them - to give them some exercise. Therefore, I fully intend to continue my apprenticeship with Bill until I can call myself a proper curse-breaker.

After all, a girl can't risk a flat arse. Even for all the gloves in Italy, which I am advised are too numerous to mention.

I'm glad to hear the professors are recuperating. Any news about Harry? I suppose there isn't, or I'd have heard but...I always hope.

Huge amounts of love, and a biscotto, which you should find enclosed if the owl hasn't eaten it.

Padma x
