getting a makeover--

soooooooooooo my dad is weird???

we had this long winded conversation a couple nights ago about how i present myself to the public. apparently because i'm 21, i need to update my look, be more trendy, and start to wear makeup so i can begin attracting the male species and date and eventually bring home a husband.

my mom didn't really chip in much unless my dad asked her questions about how she was in college. my mom was basically me but with a better fashion sense.

the best part was that i knew i was right and my dad was wrong the entire time. the way i dress isn't trendy, no, but i do dress comfortably. i don't like to show off skin and i prefer to stay covered up. i don't wear makeup because i'm also rushing to class so i never think to put it on. i also don't own any decent makeup. i generally prefer to just not attract attention to myself. my dad didn't seem to appreciate that.

i get it, parents want grandchildren. parents get concerned when their children aren't dating and being happy. parents really get concerned when you're the only child not out dating and generally being happy. he even interrogated me about my male friends and coworkers which was ridiculous. he also tries to get me to befriend every black girl under the sun. that's even more awkward.

my dad admitted he was wrong the next day after he realized i'm acting like any other college student, ESPECIALLY at an engineering school. girls don't have time for that shit most days. this was after he tried to recommend i see a professional makeover specialist. like what the fuck, i'm only 21. this isn't a midlife crisis. i know fashion; i just can't afford it.

i thought the conversation was done, but then my mom secretly planned a shopping date with my brother's best friend so now i have to do that. apparently i'm not paying for anything but that doesn't really motivate me??
