Well, you're going back to school, right? (Or am i smoking crack here?)
My first 6-8 months in college, i was sick more often than not. Lots of people coming from all over the place, bringing their local germs to a new area. And lots of older teenagers doing the "you're not my mom, i don't have to follow basic rules of hygiene" type of rebelling. College students are walking petri dishes.
A lot of people won't actually have many/any problems with this, but if you've got a twitchy immune system, be prepared to take a lot of antibiotics. And that being said? Be prepared to eat a LOT of yogurt to counteract the systemic effects of that many antibiotics in your system. If you can't stand yogurt, get yourself some acidophilus supplements. Trust me on this one.
And all of THAT being said... i hope you feel better soon! *hugs*
Ah yes, the air quality of Chicago. Get yourself a good humidifier or three, especially make sure you have one in the bedroom. Even in Atlanta, we need a humidifier in the winter... makes a HUGE difference. When mucous membranes get dried out, they're more susceptible to infection; hell, that could be the source of your problem right there.
Yeah, the air here has already tried to kill me once, and I am not enjoying it at all!
I do have some ghetto humidifiers in place right now (old pots filled with water on all the radiators in the house) and plan to get real humidifiers soon. Again, thanks for the tip!

The age also runs the gamut from fresh out of high school to mid 40's, so again better AND worse.
I am finding out the hard way that with my poor immune system, and the air quality here, I am basically s.o.l. for a bit.
I just remembered the yoghurt counteraction yesterday! Thank goodness that I got some and thank you for the reminder!
Thank I hope that I do as well, and am following your new cookings with great interest!
