A/N: Nightclub AU. Fujigaya is a bit obsessed with the new dancer in his club. A bit too much, he himself reckons. Title is a bit... well, sorry, that's the best I could come up with.

The lights of the club were Fujigaya's natural environment. And he was shining only during the night, no one knew what he did during the day. Even though after so many years of night life he looked bored to actually join the crowd in the club, he couldn't turn away from that place. The lights had him.

What was clear for everyone who knew him was that if he wanted something he didn’t even need to ask for it. And not only because he was one of the owners. Fujigaya was just the typical type of person that conveyed all he wanted to say in a single, deep, meaningful look that no one had ever managed to escape.

Everyone was his prey.

When the new dancer came in, he took a look at him from his private corner. No hints of curiosity as he was already bored of all the games he played with dancers before. He just looked at him thinking if it was a good idea hiring the guy, not that it was his decision to take, as the other owner always took care of staff hiring. He was also beginning to think that it was his fault they kept on changing dancers so often. He had already been accused by the other owner of scaring away young and promising dancers. “It's not my fault they all fall in love with me and I can't respond to the feeling,” he said to Yokoo Wataru, his business partner. Yokoo just grunted.

This new dancer wasn't anything special. A short guy wearing t-shirt and jeans. He was also wearing a cap that partially hid his face. It was his turn to scold Yokoo this time if this guy wouldn't have been able to keep the standards of the place high.

The night started. As usual it started without notice, very quiet at the beginning just before the people already queuing outside the place were allowed in. Fujigaya was sipping his champagne at his private table, on the second floor loft, where he could take a good look at the club unnoticed. Then he saw the new dancer entering the stage, exuding confidence at every step. He wasn't sure he was the same quiet guy that Yokoo was interviewing that very same afternoon. And it wasn't only his attire. He was wearing red and that colour suited him. The attitude of the guy was completely different on stage. And Fujigaya couldn't force himself to look away.

Without even realizing what he was doing he kept on staring at him. He moved forward, to a spot where the other could have seen him, if only he had looked up. Fujigaya was mildly wishing he did, but he didn't. He danced until the tune ended, the crowd was crazy for him and hands reached out to touch him.

When the song finished and the new guy was about to get off the stage he finally looked up. Fujigaya was totally unprepared. It was like time froze in that moment. Hours could have passed only it was just the small amount of time of a glance. It was like the new guy’s defiance was challenging him.

“Call him here.” Fujigaya ordered to a young member of the staff.

When the guy arrived, he entered the small room without a word.

“You can sit down. Something to drink? Champagne?”

“But I'm working...”

“This is definitely the type of job you can do even if you are tipsy, so don't worry. What's your name?” Taisuke asked ordering the waiter to pour a glass to the guy.

“Kitayama Hiromitsu. I've just started today...”

“I know. I saw Wataru talking to you. As they might have told you, I'm one of the owners here. I just wanted to have a chat, since we didn't meet before.”

“As I said, I'm still working. I'm supposed to be dancing down there, you know?”

“Which part of 'I'm the owner of this place’ isn't clear? If I say you can stay, then you can.” Fujigaya stated bitterly.

“Okay, then. What do you want to talk about?” Kitayama leaned back on the sofa.

“I was only thinking that your dance moves look good.”

“Thanks. Just so you know, if you're trying to make a pass on me, I don't think the policy of this place will allow it. At least that's what the other owner said.”

“Fuck him. And just so you know, I wasn't trying anything,” Fujigaya replied, frowning.

“Oh well. I was about to say that I don't mind breaking the rules once in a while.” Kitayama stood up and walked towards the exit of the private area. Fujigaya just stared at him. That pretentious guy was so full of himself. How dared he walk away like that? But Fujigaya couldn’t utter a single word and just looked at him walking steadily and confidently away from him. His eyes were too attracted to his body and his way of moving. Fujigaya admitted to himself he was quite a good thing he could get that view. Kitayama turned in his direction when he reached the stairs.

“Going back to work now, thanks for the wine.”

Fujigaya wracked his head more than he did want to admit to himself. That guy. Always that guy. Everyday he walked nonchalantly in the club, everyday he danced on stage making people scream and everyday he disappeared quietly among the crowd. Fujigaya was watching him. When he wasn't dancing on stage he usually sat in the corner where the dancers used to sit, looking at the crowd, sipping something. Sometimes he chatted with the barman, sometimes he even dared to step on the dancefloor, and that was when, Fujigaya knew, he was looking for something.

Fujigaya didn’t want to admit he did not like when the Kitayama found what he was looking for and left the club with someone after work. Usually when this happened, Fujigaya ventured on the dancefloor as well, found someone to lure, ran in a cab back home and chased the night away with the company of a complete stranger.

What he couldn’t chase away were Kitayama’s eyes. And Kitayama’s hands running on his body when he danced, Kitayama’s lips, Kitayama’s hips moving frantically on stage. When he found his mind lost in this kind of thoughts, Fujigaya wanted to hit himself.

He was the one who was supposed to make people feel like this; that had always been his way of doing things.

He tried to avoid contact with the dancer as much as possible. He didn’t want Kitayama nor anybody else to think he wanted something from him. He wasn’t even sure what he wanted actually. He just knew that the guy annoyed him. He annoyed him so much he would have smashed his head somewhere before kissing him till they’d both felt dizzy.

One day Fujigaya was just bored of waiting for the staff member to bring him a bottle of champagne, so he decided to go and fetch some by himself. He approached the bar from the side, trying to get past the crowd, but there was no way he could skip the queue there. The barman was too busy to notice him. Maybe it hadn't been such a great idea to go there. Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Kitayama smiling satisfied at him.

“What do you want to drink?”

“Err... I just wanted to...”

Kitayama raised a hand and looked at the barman who immediately saw him and waved at him even if he was surrounded by people taller than him.

“So?”

“Just whatever.”

“Two of the usual, Yuta please!”

The barman smiled and nodded and in no time he passed them two glasses of a blue-ish cocktail.

“How did he even see you among all this people. I mean...”

“Oh, well, he always looks this way for me. He knows I want to drink when I finish dancing.”

They moved to a less crowded spot and actually managed to find a table to put down their glasses.

“So, how come you are down on the commoners dancefloor tonight?” Kitayama asked, raising his voice as needed allowing the other to hear him above the loud music.

“I was tired of waiting for someone to bring my drink.”

“It must be pretty boring up there.”

“No, it’s not. What do you mean?”

“I mean... clubs are not meant to be looked at. You are meant to live them. Join the movement, feel alive.”

“I know exactly how to feel alive thanks. And it’s not like I never come down here.” It's just that when I do, you don’t see me, Fujigaya wanted to add.

“I know, I saw you.”

Fujigaya's eyebrows tilted. When did he saw him if he always looked so busy dancing or looking somewhere else?

“Pretty hot, what you do.”

“What?”

“I mean the way you get people to do what you want. It’s like you hypnotize them. Is it a charm or something?”

“I have no idea of what you are talking about.” Fujigaya pouted. And whatever, it’s not working for you.

“So you don’t know uh? I thought you were pretty sure of what you were doing.” Kitayama said with a smug face.

“I... I am sure. Always. I don't know what you mean.”

“You probably don’t like me. I never saw that face again.”

“What?”

“Remember the first time I danced on stage? You were looking at me. With those eyes, the eyes that know what they want.”

“You weren’t even looking at me, how do you know...?”

“I was. You just didn’t realize I was. So I looked at you directly and that look was gone. You called me and you probably didn’t like me at all. I was a bit grumpy that day as well.”

Fujigaya wasn’t sure if he understood right. So this guy was convinced he didn’t like him?

“You always ignore me, no matter what I do on stage to surprise you.”

“Surprise me?”

“I want to get that look.” Kitayama said moving closer to Fujigaya’s face.

Fujigaya was perplexed. He couldn’t understand the other's game at all. Was it a game? He wanted “that” meant that he wanted him? Fujigaya couldn’t even accept the fact he wished to give that look to him, but he simply couldn’t do it. He didn’t know why everything collapsed like a sand castle hit by the waves on the foreshore when he was in front of him. He didn’t want to surrender to the idea he wanted him. He wanted him so much he couldn’t think about anything else. And he didn’t want to say it, he didn’t want to show it to him. If getting that look was the other guy’s goal, it would have been the reason Fujigaya would have lost the game.

But it was a matter of understanding what he didn’t want to lose more. What was it more important, his pride in this challenge or the chance to get to know Kitayama better?

“You are quite interesting, let’s chat some more next time. I’ll call you up in my private area, of course if it’s not too boring for you. You must be really busy ‘living’.” Fujigaya smiled wryly.
