Trading Housewives Meet Mommy

Totally just watched random T.V. I noticed that pagan family was trying to include the Christian Mother (Margarita Perrin) and she had a small spazz attack (it wasnt even a pagan ritual or anything, just tossing incense into the fire and thinking good thoughts, isnt that like prayer?). I only cought the end-half of the show, but she was supposed to ( Read more... )

Do you mean "Trading Spouses"? If so, how did I miss this one? Dang.

They tend to get very irritating Christians on that show, while "Wife Swap" has all the really obnoxious hippies. (I know entirely too much about reality TV, sometimes...)

Thanks for sharing this, I'm going to try to catch the follow up (hard without cable though).

Was the pagan family overtly pagan? I mean, were they actually referred to as pagan with an explanation or was it one of those things where you see/hear enough that it's obvious to someone who already knows about it?

They described themselves as "spiritual," and held a "Solstice Party." The wife is a hypnotherapist, and the husband does astrology charts.

Wow, I am sort of suprised they did this on the one hand, but not on the other. You have to imagine that when they were choosing the pagan-esque family they decided to choose a very non-liberal Christian one.

But I wonder.... do you think this helps the view of pagans out there? I am almost inclined to say yes. But I feel bad that they chose a christian family that made a sadder example of the openness of christians.....

Damn. Sorry I missed this one.

Well, the second half is on next week, Wednesday.

I don't know that it provided a better example of pagans. As I mentioned in one of the cross posts, the father of the pagany family was kind of a dick to his wife, and they made sure to mention that they met online. I assume next week, the two families will meet, or.. maybe just the wives meet? I'm not totally sure how they play out this show.

I'm sure they chose polar opposites -- pagan hippies and conservative Southern Christians -- for the drama and viewership.
