I was a bit surprised myself when I found out;>! Truthfully, I like moshchata squashes better so I'm not surprised I liked ANYTHING made with them over ever "sugar" pie pumpkin. Next yr I'm going to try one of the bush forms simply because I don't have the space here at RO for the standard Kudzu-like vines and I miss my home-grown Winters.....
Cheers,
Pat

This is a moschata, and here, when farmers grow pumpkins, any pepos, such as crookneck summer squash, are doomed by the bugs. Great clouds of bugs rise from the pumpkin fields.

I've never found a really tasty pepo Winter. As a Summer, sure. Besides, a lot of moschatas have really pretty leaves....
Cheers,
