We didn't get up THAT high this yr but in the upper 90's with 100% Humidity everything but my few succulents were VERY happy;>! I'd been doing all my Work between 0600 and 1000....after that it truly was too Bloody Hot!

We had temps in the upper 90's earlier this week, and I will be harvesting throughout October. In November, I might do some soil
amendments and a little planting.

We weirdly get our 1st Frosts about Yule-tide, not that it's Warm up till then;>! I'm thinking about putting in some Red Clover along the South and East side of the house where there's enough Sun for beds. Sadly, the development has a ground crew that doesn't use Mulching equipment so pretty much ANY Organic matter for the last 3 decades has been "hovered" up. At least according to "Da Rules" homeowners CAN make their own decisions up to 15' from their walls so I can mark out "Unmowable" zones.

Pat

I've never planted clover. Is the idea to build up the soil for future gardening?

Yes. The Soil in my yard outside the courtyards is pretty much pure Sand. I like Red Clover mainly because it's also quite Ornamental when in Bloom and not ugly out of. That way you can leave a stand of it without neighbors complaining;>.
