It took me a few days, as well, to light the furnace. In my case, it was a goofy thermostat. Do you have a way to heat if the electricity and gas went out? In my area, wood fireplaces are never built in the newer homes.

In the city house I have a wood burning fireplace but not in the country (that seems a bit backwards doesn't it!) I am surely going to miss my fireplace too.
