My dad and step mom brought lasagna in throw away bread pans and tater tot hotdish in the same pans. All I needed to do was put it in the oven. It was very nice to have.

Getting the house clean and all the laundry done is very helpful. Clean the toilet, the tub/shower and mop the floors.

Buy paper plates, cups and plastic silverware - it's nice to not have to do dishes.

If your friend is pagan, I would also recommend purifying and protecting the house in whatever way works for you (I smudge with sage and renew the wards on the property).

HTH.

Thank you for all that! It'll be put to good use. :)

She's not Pagan (she's Jewish, and her husband is recovering Catholic, lol), but she introduced me to the faith. So I think it'd be appropriate, at least. Yay!

As you know I've got kids, when they were born I would have appreciated a clean house, pre-prepared frozen meals in my freezer, a nappy wash service or a few boxes of disposable nappies (depending on which way she prefers to lean) and a fresh bunch of flowers to make the place all cheery, nice slippers, a nice dressing gown and a soft bristle hairbrush if you want to pamper her with a few nice things, a baby monitor if she hasn't already got one and a nice warm lap to bounce baby on so she can go and have a shower without guilt.
