Now, this being said, I'm coming from a witch of a mother who found her religion after I found out I was a pagan... I grew up in a southern baptist/prodesten (fathers side baptist, mothers side prod..) house.. and during my "religion ( Read more... )

My son's only 9 month old, so I don't let him sit in front of the TV very much, but he already loves Sesame Street. Really, really loves it. In fact, I can't have it on if I want him to do anything but stare at the TV...

It's certainly not a neo-pagan program, but I don't know of anyone that could argue that it's good, solid children's entertainment. And it's Muppets. *sigh* the Gods were kind when they gave us Jim Henson, verily.

Not a suggestion of titles, but a thought for ya...

My daughter has had similar experiences and has pretty much seamlessly integrated EVERYTHING into her own hodge podge of religiosity. For example, her very Pentacostal (sp) grandmother explained Heaven to her since her Granddad is there and so my little one decided that he is now the God of Trucks (he was a diesel mechanic) and she named her monarch caterpiller Jesus. Which led to the hilarious shouting of "Bye Jesus Holmes! Fly free!"

I, too, would be a little more worried about the dismissal of your feelings. While the gift was undoubtedly well-intended, your boyfriend should have tried to understand, or at least accept, your opinion.

Good luck and I hope you find some great stuff.

Oh, and if nothing else, Pan's Labyrinth does have that lovely "beating a man's face in with a bottle" scene to suggest it might be for older kids only.

I have seen Pan's Labyrinth a few times and I cannot watch that part! The over all movie I liked... but there are a couple parts that I still close my eyes and hum to myself. :D
