I don't know if I'm just too picky or what, but it's been hard for me to find much via yard sales and/or thrift shops that I would or could put toward "magickal/altar" uses...but, I have unearthed a few things:
Oh that blue globe thing in the bottom picture would be awesome with a tealight or some sort of flame inside it--on a windowsill, or an iron stand, or some sort of cord or wire hangar to hang over an altar. Nice find! The capiz-shell lotus votive holder is pretty awesome. I'm a big fan of black iron, so the crackle-glass votive holder checks all my tickyboxes. I love the pre-loved copy of The Golden Bough, and I envy you the herb book--no not the honest one, the other one, the ID and user's guide. I'm off to search for a copy for myself.
I gotta say though, I sporfled at the wheat-ear candlestick. I have no doubt you'll spruce it up and give it good new purpose, but right now? It looks like somebody stuck one of its appendages in a light socket--truly bad hair day.
The blue glass globe is an oil burner...I've just got to get the wick and attachment, plus some oil and it's ready to go.:) I'm interested to see how great it looks when I finally do light it up.
Oh yes, me too -I'm a HUGE fan of crackle glass, especially iridescent crackle glass.:)
I picked up the herb book at a consignment shop...it's rather interesting so far.:)
Yeah...the wheat candle holder doesn't look the greatest and I'm not entirely sure yet exactly how I want to paint it, but it grabbed my attention immediately. I found it at a Goodwill and was searching around for a 2nd one, but no such luck.:/ I may post pics. once I get it re-painted... a matte black base with gold or copper dry-brushed on is coming to mind... Just got to make sure it won't combust into flames once the candle burns down too low.;D
I've seen the lotus candle holders on various people's altars and it always looks really pretty and relaxing, and then I see them in shops for about $20 -which is too much for me right now, but when I saw this for a mere few bucks...couldn't pass it.:)
