Homemade jam dododumpling July 7 2007, 18:07:51 UTC
Homemade jam is the best. I don't eat Robinsons or Hartleys or any similar brands. It isn't jam - it's red paste.

Last year I went blackberrying and then made jam from the fruit I'd picked, and I usually make some kind of chutney once or twice a year too. I don't have jam pan though and am very jealous of yours! Good idea to start looking out in charity shops for one. :)

Ahhhhhh, now firstly i have to disagree with you on dinner parties. Ok, im not a dinner party junkie, i think ive only ever had about 6, but, spending all day in the kitchen creating this fabulous dish, that when i serve everyone says "Ooooooooo" does give me a buzz! ;o)

My nan use to make jam and marmalade...i keep promising myself im gunna do it, but i just never get time :o(

Oh youre a taurean too are you ;o)

Oh hon {{{{{hugs}}}}} I tell you what, it makes me so glad sometimes that i havent got parents around (or ones that care at any rate) when i hear about some of the grief they give their children when theyre adults...... I will never ever be like that with my kids *shakes head*

When are they due to leave?

i admit i do sometimes spend all day in the kitchen preparing something for a dinner, so what i said i admit is a little incorrect heh. but my stance on dinner parties is the same, i just dont see the point of them, it might be that i dont have any good enough friends to invite or it could also be what i initialy wrote, that i have never been interested in preparing those foods that only cover a minute plate and only take less than a minute to eat. i had no intention on criticising good dinner parties and hosts, but those people that get so pretentious in their actions, parties and the food.

i know i moan about my family but i am glad we are a close family. the problem is i love them and i hate them lol. i am the baby of three sisters so things are probably worse for me.

Sounds to me the family has overstayed their welcome? I know I was raised with the idea that you don't ask your guests to help clean up, but... if the guests are making a bigger mess than usual (because of the idea that guests don't clean up and they're abusing this idea) then by all means, ask the offender to help clean up since they contributed a bigger portion of the mess than everyone else. I don't mind cleaning up after people, but if they're abusing the hospitality code, then I got no problems saying 'hey, help!'. It doesn't make you evil or bad or wrong, just means you aren't going to stand for being a doormat, either. *hugs* Ah, family... can't live with them, can't live without them!

As to the home made foods, they're sometimes healthier than the store bought stuff, sometimes not. But they generally do taste nicer than the store stuff =)
