I agree with you about his appeal as an ALIVE and vigorous force of nature. That appealed to me as well. I was even afraid for him when they Spike-ified him and let him out in the wild world, defenseless. I guess I just don't turn off parts of my brain that easily. I can deal with violence against "bad" people and against the good guys if the story is about their survival. But it's hard for me to watch something when I relate to victims that are secondary to the story. It's like when I watched the movie *Crash.* Remember that scene when that Chinese guy got run over by an SUV? It was supposed to be a humorous scene, but that guy reminded me of my dad, and it just sickened me.

HAHA - I hadn't thought of him as Spike-ified - thats a really good point.

I don't remember that scene...which I suppose says something about what we remember because it relates to us. I've definitely had that feeling in movies before - something that hits too close to home for comfort.

This whole thing kind of reminds me of when that guy got tortured in that terrible B-horror movie about the guy who kidnapped teens and made them re-enact going to prom with him. Remember that? (How could anyone forget!) I was so disgusted with the torture scene because I related to the guy that was accidentally tortured. He was a bit jerk, but in the end his intention was just trying to help his messed up little brother, which I understand completely. It made me sick to watch it and you guys were cracking up next to me. Hmm, now I'm starting to see a pattern in several movies we've watched. LOL

Um, I just got accused of making certain others seem like ahem "twisted freaks," so I wanted to make sure everyone knows that my friends are not freaks! They are just...very, very special people.

Hahaha! Just kidding--you are freaks!

Seriously, I think it's a pattern that reveals more about me and what bothers me then anything else.
