Hey Paigey just saying hi.

Haven't spoken to you in a while. Besides work and computers not working I hope all is well with you.
Keep it real.

Hope the floor move went well. I did a 23 hour shift once when I was doing mall work between college and grad school. It's really fun when you start hallucinating in front of the customers.

Now then, your computer: Download a copy of Spybot Search & Destroy (do a Google search; it's free) from a working computer. Boot up your computer in Safe Mode (hold down the F8 key while booting). Install SpyBot. Let it run in "easy mode", search for problems, and tell it to fix everything. Run the inoculation routine. The search, cleanup, and inoculation may take some time; a friend of mine had over 1400 worms, trojans, viruses, keyloggers, and miscellaneous pieces of crapware on her machine. It was basically Strongbad all over the place.

You should now be able to boot up normally. Congratulations! Now download AvG antivirus (do another Google search; it's also free), install it, and keep it up to date. Keep the computer as a jukebox & backup machine if you like, or slap Linux on the sumbitch and turn it into a Half-Life server.

My pleasure. Just remember to run Spybot every once in a while, and to set AvG to auto-update (I set mine to check every day).

Probably not a bad idea to pull down a firewall while you're at it. Zone Alarm has a free mode for individual users.
