Joann's has reeeeeeally nice velvet for like $27/yard and nice velveteen for $11/yard, and coupons for half-off next week (if you need them and don't have ask)...does velvet take a print well? I assume you mean velveteen?

i have a feeling i actually want cotton velveteen rather than the nice velvet (because of the price and ease of sewing, and i'm thinking velveteen would take the print better). i went to jo-anns last night and they didn't have any black velveteen sadly; only some ugly green and an awkward sort of copenhagen blue. i atill should have bought some little pieces to test print on, but of course this only occurs to me now...

That sucks...I just bought a yard and a half there a few days ago for my skull skirt. Velveteen is interesting to work with!

I think cotton velveteen will take a print really well. I get mine from Fashion Fabrics Club usually. Good prices. $7/yd for 100% cotton, and $5.75/yd for 97/3 cotton/lycra.
