History:
Personality: KOS-MOS is, first and foremost, an android. Her personality (that being called a "Simulated Personality OS") was programmed solely for the fact that it would aid in smoother communication with other people, and even that is dictated by logic, probability, and the completion of whatever mission is assigned. Naturally, it's easy to tell that KOS-MOS is hard to talk to concerning... anything normal. She's definitely not what you'd call friendly, and she's probably what you'd think of when you think of something non-human--cold, blunt, direct, and not good for casual conversation at all. By all rights she could hold an actual conversation, but would she? Chances are that would be a no. After all, what's the point in having a regular conversation with someone when there's a mission at hand and an objective to complete.
However, it's that trait especially of hers that sets her apart from just being your regular android. Rather than directly obey orders from her superiors and creators, if what they instruct clashes with her programmed objectives, she will absolutely refuse to follow them. She has a stubborn streak a mile-wide and will do things completely to her own beat if she believes it to be the best course of action. Honestly, she's quite a handful for her companions. Getting her to stand down can be incredibly difficult, nearly impossible at times. Of course, in her eyes the protests against her actions all seem rather illogical. She's simply doing what she's been programmed to do, nothing more. So what if the resulting casualties is greater than the amount of people she managed to save? As long as those people were the ones who were saved, there's no problem here.
Of course, as a result, that sort of stubbornness combined with her unyielding following of logic can make her seem downright antagonistic at times. When a Gnosis approached Commander Cherenkov and Shion, KOS-MOS deliberately chose to shoot through Cherenkov and into the Gnosis. In her words, the chances of Shion surviving through that method were much higher than any other, and it was one of her prime objectives to protect her creator. Even when Shion berates her and laments that the Commander's death was indirectly her fault, KOS-MOS does not understand. It was her duty to protect Shion, and that was simply what she did. Cherenkov's death was completely irrelevant to her. That moment more than anything shows what she is; she in an android, an artificial personality that feels no human emotions.
However, despite that being how she appears for most of the series, that is certainly not all there is to her. There are numerous moments where KOS-MOS almost appears to be possessed by another person; her voice is warmer, soft even, and no longer carries the cold tone of an android. Even her eyes change to another color, a human shade of blue unlike the artificial red they usually are. In this state it is much more evident that she cares for her companions, in a way that is more than just a programming or rule of logic. She even asks questions like, "Will feeling pain make me complete?" As an android, it is most likely safe to assume that KOS-MOS cannot feel pain; however, by asking such a question, it seems to allude that she herself believes she is in an incomplete state. It may only be subconsciously, but to feel pain is to be human, so to desire to feel pain appears to be a desire to be human.
Powers: ANDROID:
• As an android, KOS-MOS is much more durable than the average human and is capable of handling weapons of a much heavier weight as a result. She also has super strength, great speed, etc etc.
• She is equipped with the Hilbert Effect, the only thing capable of bringing Gnosis from Imaginary Space into their own dimension. Hers in particular is as powerful as a spaceship's own Hilbert Effect.
• Like all denizens of the Xenosage universe, KOS-MOS can interact with the U.M.N. for several different purposes, from traveling through space to storing weapons.
WEAPONS:
Her more regular weapons include the G•SHOT (two enormous triple barrel gatling guns), the R•BLADE (a long sword that attaches itself to her right arm), the F•SYCTHE (a large scythe), and the *insert her handgun name here* (a gun). As it is though, Miyuki of Vector Industries is constantly inventing new weapons for KOS-MOS to test out. Her most powerful weapon as of her current canon point would be the X•BUSTER, a ray of beams that springs forth from her abdomen all at once. It is extremely powerful and capable of wiping out entire Gnosis fleets in a single use.
OTHER:
Along with her weapons, KOS-MOS stores her mech unit, the E.S. Dinah, inside the U.M.N. She is completely capable of piloting it, and her sleep pod where she spends time repairing or just being on standby transforms into the seat for her in the E.S. Dinah. The pod is also capable of transforming into a space vehicle as well, resembling a motorcycle, which KOS-MOS is also capable of piloting.
