Sounds like Hux might need a friend? He's looking for someone to direct his energy towards and it sounds like you're the only thing there. The water training isn't really going to do much, so you're correct to scale that back. He was definitely taken away from his mom too early, and that complicates things because he has never learned that appropriate levels of play are. My best guess is that he needs a play buddy. I don't know if you can bring another cat into the house, but I'd think another high energy cat would give Hux another option to direct his playing.
