Sai uses his chakra to perform mystical ninja arts or jutsu’s in battle. He’s skilled at hand-to-hand combat (taijutsu), and ninjutsu. He’s both a close-range and long-range fighter. He’s a well-rounded fighter scoring an aptitude of 3 or higher (out of 5) in his Ninja Aptitude Guide (see table).
Sai’s specialized ninjutsu is called “Great Beasts Paintings”. By infusing his chakra directly into his ink, he can animate any drawings he creates. He uses this technique for spying, fighting, and transport.
For spying purposes, Sai has the ability to write messages that deliver themselves. His writing lifts from the page and reconstructs itself into an animal allowing it to travel unnoticed to another location. Once it reaches its destination, the animal reforms back into its original message. In this format, he can pass on important information without the risk of it falling into the wrong hands. If the animal is intercepted it would splatter back into regular ink destroying the message with it. This ability is one of the reasons why he’s an ideal candidate for both reconnaissance and espionage missions.
Aside from reconnaissance work, Sai’s ninjutsu is also very effective in battle. The skilled artist has an amazing drawing speed. For instance, he can draw about a dozen fuu dogs in two seconds. Once they are drawn, he can quickly animate them, and has the ability to command them two ways: 1) directly which he does by commanding their every move, or by 2) issuing them an order and giving them free reign to complete the order. In addition, Sai can create large scale drawings that contain a great amount of physical power. For example, the two human figures (“Benevolent Kings”) he used to help take down Deidara and Sasori.
For transportation purposes, the leaf nin mainly uses large birds for aerial travel. He can use exploding tags with his ink ninjutsu to launch an explosive aerial attack with his birds. Furthermore, Sai can create clones of himself from his ink, and has the ability to body flicker or teleport using his ink. He can also create inanimate objects like the umbrella he made to protect himself from the rain. Basically, anything he can imagine and draw on paper, he can bring to life, making each creation as strong as the amount of chakra he pours into it.
Sai is an earth type user. Considering his main weapon (ink) is derived from the earth, Sai has an affinity for that element. In canon, he’s shown literally melting into the earth and hiding there when his clone went in his place to greet Orochimaru during the Sasuke Retrieval arc. This derivation is also confirmed in the data book. In addition to his ANBU training, Sai received Fūinjutsu (Sealing Techniques) training in ROOT. He’s seen using a version of this technique early on when he summons an ANBU data book from two summoning scrolls in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. The full extent of his power is seen during the Ninja War. He uses a paint brush taller than himself to draw a life-sized tiger on a large scroll. When completed, the tiger leaps from the scroll and drags the enemy into the scroll sealing them there. The sealing technique is one of the few jutsus’s able to seal away the ninjas brought back by Kabuto’s Impure World Resurrection technique. This combined with the rest of his skills, is the reason why Danzou calls him the strongest of his generation, and is one of his most prized soldiers.
How would they use their abilities?:
Sai would not abuse his abilities, but that doesn’t mean he won’t use them. His shinobi skills are a part of him, and are normal in his world. He would use them to gain information, for self defense and potentially for recreational purposes. However, he would not cause major destruction with them unless he was in a fight. Generally, Sai would not attempt to manipulate someone. However, that’s not to say he won’t. If he saw it in his best interest, Sai has no problem attempting to manipulate anyone; its part of his training in ROOT, and therefore, something that he simply does sometimes without noticing.
Appearance:
Eye Color: Coal Black
Hair Color: Coal Black
Height: 172.1cm (about 5'8")
Weight: 53.3kg (117.5 lbs)
Sai has short black hair and coal black eyes. His skin is very pale, which is made more noticeable by the dark clothes he tends to wear. His outfit is composed of black ninja sandals, semi-fingerless black gloves, black pants that stop a few inches below the knee and a long sleeve black jacket that has the left sleeve cut to his forearm and just above his pectorals leaving his midriff exposed. He also carries a ninja pouch on his back pocket, and a small black backpack which is clipped to his jacket. A short sword is strapped to his back, and he wears his ninja headband on his forehead. Sai has a curse seal at the back of his tongue that is usually not visible when he is talking. Only when he sticks out his tongue is the mark visible. The Curse seal looks almost like a zipper keeping him from ever spilling any of Danzou’s secrets by paralyzing him.

History
Sai graduated from the Academy at the age of 9, and took the Chuunin exam at 10. No information on number of missions/ranks is given. Currently, Sai is an ANBU ROOT member and under the direct command of Danzou, who once commented that his artistic mind was simply amazing.
Sai was an orphan who was taken in and molded to become an emotionless, highly trained weapon for ROOT. He grew close to one of the other members in ROOT and eventually saw him as an older brother. The two grew close but after the boy died from an illness (info. given by Sai), Sai was left alone and finished cutting himself off emotionally from the world. His skills as a ninja were well recognized and he completed many highly ranked missions which impressed his superior Danzou, who remarked he was the strongest of his generation.
It is on one of these missions that Sai is placed in Team 7 to fill up the spot left vacant by Sasuke when he defected from Konoha. Danzou gives Sai a secret mission: to align himself with Orochimaru in order to get close to Sasuke and assassinate the rogue Uchiha before he can become Orochimaru’s next vessel.
Team 7’s mission was to travel to Hidden Grass to meet Sasori's spy, but the meeting was a trap and Team Seven ended up fighting Orochimaru and Kabuto. After the ensuing battle, Sai revealed he wanted to join Orochimaru, providing him with the identities of Konoha's ANBU as proof of good intentions. He returned with Orochimaru to his hideout. Team 7 eventually caught up with Sai and demanded to know what he planned. Hearing his plan, Naruto reiterated the same thing as before and stated that he would never give up on Sasuke and retrieve him. Sai was surprised by his words, seeing a bit of his brother in Naruto. He then decides to help them instead of completing his mission. He helps them search the compound and when he finds Sasuke he tells the Uchiha that he plans to protect the bond between him and Naruto, a statement that Sasuke did not take well and engages him in combat. The rest of Team 7 soon show up, but they lose the battle and Orochimaru along with Sasuke disappear.
After their encounter with Sasuke, Sai continues on with missions with Team Seven and begins to try and express himself by imitating human expressions which are obviously fake since their are no emotions behind any of them. He also spends his time reading about relationships. It is through these personal studies that he learns about nicknames. He gives Naruto the nickname, Little Prick with No Balls, and Sakura, Ugly Dog. He gets negative reaction from both and Sakura even beats him. He then concludes that he should give women a nickname that is opposite of what he thinks since women don’t like to be told exactly how they look, and so he ends up giving Ino the nickname Miss Beautiful. Ino is flattered and Sakura is angry.
Later when Asuma is killed by Akatsuki members, Kakashi and the rest of Team 10 go after Hidan and Kakuzu. Team 7 (including Yamato) is sent as back up. Sai does not engage in actual combat in this battle since he and Sakura are immediately dispatched to back up Shikamaru who had taken Hidan on alone at another location. By the time he and Sakura arrived, Shikamaru had already defeated Hidan and by the time they returned Naruto had just defeated Kakuzu, but at the cost of a broken arm from his new technique. Due to this injury Sai steps in when Naruto is trying to get Sakura to feed him and offers to feed his teammate himself in an effort to improve their relationship. Naruto is not pleased with his interference.
The next mission Sai is deployed on is on an eight man squad whose goal is to track down Uchiha Sasuke. While on the mission they encounter Tobi, who tries to prevent them from interfering in Sasuke’s and Itachi’s fight. There they witness his strange dimension jutsu.
Sai is not seen much after that last mission until Konoha is being attacked by Pein. During the attack he is on a secret ANBU assignment with Anko and Yamato. Their goal is to track down Kabuto. Sai is seen using a special tracking jutsu. However, their assignment is interrupted when Yamato senses Naruto lose control of the Kyuubi. Sai later returns to find Konoha destroyed and that Danzou has been made the Sixth Hokage, though the Jounins have yet to vote on it. He then goes to see him for new orders. Danzou orders him to spy on Naruto. Sai respectfully asks what he plans to do with Naruto, a question that is out of character for any ROOT member, but Danzou tells him that since Naruto just saved the village the people believe in him and so it would reflect bad on him as Hokage if he did anything to him, and with the Jounin’s voting soon it is a critical time for him. However, though he answers the questions, Danzou becomes suspicious of Sai’s loyalty and later sends two other ROOT members to spy on him as a precautionary measure, in case he decides to betray ROOT, though he personally does not believe he will.
After receiving his new orders, Sai returns to Team 7 where Naruto and Sakura confront him about Danzou. They want to know what he plans, but Sai informs them that he cannot tell them anything. Before the two can get angry at him, he shows them a curse seal that looks like a zipper. The seal is located at the back of his tongue. If he ever tries to reveal any of Danzou’s secrets including those secrets of ROOT, the curse seal will paralyze him completely. Sai then attempts to defend Danzou by stating that ROOT has done many dirty deeds but always for the protection of Konoha. The curse seal is a precaution Danzou has taken to protect those secrets and Konoha. He believes that is a necessary precaution and although the two may not approve of the new Hokage's methods, Danzou cares about the village. Sakura and Naruto clearly don’t believe him, and tell him that Danzou has sanctioned Sasuke’s death, information Sai was unaware of, but before he can question it further, they are interrupted by a pair of Kumo nins looking to gather information on Sasuke. The two nins reveal that the Uchiha attacked their village and is now a part of Akatsuki-the basis for the Sasuke’s current execution order. Naruto steps in and tells the two nin that he will tell them about Sasuke and leaves with them willingly, leaving Sakura and Sai behind.
Later, Sai see’s Naruto getting beaten by both nin when he refused to betray the missing nin, not able to simple stand back and do nothing but watch, Sai steps in and stops them from continuing their beating of the blonde. He bandages Naruto up, and listens to him tell Kakashi and Yamato about what the fourth-his father- spoke to him about. He listens to Naruto tell them that his father “Has faith in me”, words that will be later given to him by Kakashi. After Naruto’s wounds are dressed by the ROOT member, Sai talks to Kakashi in private about the incident with the Kumo nins. He asks him why Naruto cares so much about Sasuke, and if bonds are really that important. Kakashi asks him why he stepped in to help Naruto when he was only ordered to spy on him, a question Sai is unable to answer, at which point, the older man, tells him that deep down he knows the answers to his own questions. Later, Sai meets with Kakashi (who knows Danzou ordered him to spy on Naruto) and tells him send Danzou fake updates informing him that Naruto is in the village, when in fact, he has left to speak with the Raikage to ask him to spare Saskuke’s life.
It is after he sends Danzou the message that Sai starts to think on the situation and Team Seven. From his interactions with Naruto and Sakura, he realizes that Naruto likes Sakura, and that’s he’s placing himself in so much peril for her sake, and for an unknown promise to her. Finally had enough of simply waiting to be given orders, Sai goes to see Sakura needing to do something, even without orders. He finds Sakura and updates her on all that’s happened with Naruto and his current destination to meet with the Raikage. Sakura is surprised that Kakashi allowed him to do such a reckless thing, and Sai defends him by stating that Kakashi has faith in him. He then explains to Sakura that even though he has not been a part of Team Seven for long, let alone know everything that’s happened between them or the promises they’ve given each other. He tells her that he might not understand people that well, at which point he starts to tense, as he yells at her showing real emotion as he tells her “Even I can tell” that Naruto really loves her, and means to shoulder the promise he made to her all his life. He explains that such a thing… it’s like what was done to him. “It feels like a curse.” Very deliberately, he tells her that Sasuke causes Naruto pain, and-the revelation that shocks Sakura the most-that he thinks she causes Naruto pain as well for making him keep such a promise.
Previous RP History:
In Mid-October, Sai entered The Facility and met many of his fellow shinobi’s. During nude week, he drew many paintings of nude males and gave them to Naruto as a gift in order to make a good first impression since the blonde did not know him from his timeline. The next week, the subjects were transferred to the Soul Eater Universe and spent the following three weeks in Shibusen City. During his first week there, Sai made an aerial exploration of the city with the Kazekage. The two were attacked and Sai turned into a Weapon, a large bow with ink arrows. He was wielded by Gaara, his Meister.
In early November, Sai fought against the Shukaku, then left mid-fight when Naruto also transformed into the Kyuubi. He later had a private meeting with the Kazekage and exchanged information with him in order to gain strict information on his tailed beast. Later when they were returned to the regular facility, Sai held another more social conversation with Sand Kage on contraceptives. A few days later Naruto was terminated. His termination greatly affected Sai, who painted a portrait of him. They next entered an experiment that made them all lose their minds and become violent. Sai remained unaffected until the end of the week when the symptoms increased. He finally lost his temper, becoming violent when he believed another subject had destroyed Shin’s Picture Book.
December was one of the most eventful months for Sai. First, he exchanged bodies with a female subject, which did not bother him. Wish week took place afterwards. Team Seven was affected by one of the wishes and Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke were all brought together in a seemingly happy ending. Seeing this, Sai inadvertently ended up wishing for real friendship, a friendship not born by lies. His wish was fulfilled by Gaara, and later sealed their new friendship with a chaste unromantic kiss when they found themselves underneath mistletoe which was hung around the entire Facility. Those caught underneath it were unable to leave the spot without partaking in a kiss. The plant instigated two more kisses between the two the rest of the week. The 7 Deadly Sins experiment took place next. Sai became the embodiment of Envy, and as the week progressed his envy became fixated on his new friend who was cursed with Lust. His Envy grew throughout the week, culminating on New Year’s Eve. His Sin drove him to take the traditional midnight kiss from Gaara in order to secure their friendship for the coming year. It was at this time that the two entered a mutual intimate agreement that satisfied both their Sins.
In January, the captives were transported to Isla Nublar. Gaara proposed a one-sided romantic relationship (because Sai had previously stated he could not return his affection due to his lack of emotions), and Sai accepted because it made the Kage happy. He informed both Naruto and Sakura who seemed to disapprove of this new development considering it was one-sided. Neither explained their reasoning and so Sai was left confused by their reactions. Later, he was confronted by the Sand siblings who gave him “the talk”. He had his first date-watching the stars on top of a waterfall-with Gaara after the interrogation, and later presented Gaara with a basket of carved fruit for his birthday. At the end of the month, the subjects were brought back to the facility and soon found themselves in total chaos when the station experienced a malfunction that allowed them to enter the station. Sai immediately went into shinobi mode and followed the orders given to the Leaf nin. He defended many subjects, and assisted in securing high priority Doctors for interrogation.
Age regression week took place in February. Sai spent most of the week looking for his brother, Shin. He also kept close to Willy Wonka, who he referred to as his “Keeper” thinking he was an adult from ROOT who was now taking care of him. At the end of the month, everyone’s left hands were given a mind of their own. Sai’s hand drew and animated an army of mice one night, while he was asleep. The mice were followed by a flock of ink birds the next night, then by a pack of fuu dogs on the third night. Given the escalation, Sai took the cure to the experiment the doctors had given them-aphrodisiac laced cookies. The cookies affected his mind and body, prompting him to publicly call for Gaara.
In mid-March, Sai drew a large portrait of Naruto and Sakura. The two were laughing and by all notions, looked happy. He received a lot of praise for the painting. Soon, they were all transported to D. Gray Man universe London. While exploring the city, he was attacked by an Akuma, and paralyzed mid fight by Rolo’s Geass. Unaffected by the Geass, Sai was saved by his ink creations from the Akuma.
In April, the subjects confronted a Noah in a final battle that destroyed the city. During the confrontation, Sai fought along side his partner, Shin Jin-Ho. During the fight, Sai witnessed a long spike penetrate the Kazekage’s body while he was using his sand to shield the combatants. He immediately went to check on him. He removed the rod and flew him to the medics, before rejoining the fight. The subjects were soon returned to the facility and entered vampire week. Sai was selected as “Prey” and fed Gaara who was a vampire. During one of their feedings, the two engaged in sexual activities for the first time. One of the experiments that month broadcasted their dreams over the network. Sai dreamed of his brother Shin. The dream told the story of his death and revealed that Shin died of illness, poison to be exact. A poison he received from Sai who was ordered to kill him.
May started with OOC week. Sai’s personality flipped completely. He was appalled at his immodest outfit and became emotionally unstable. The following week he went comatose and did not wake until the near the end of the month, by that point Naruto had been terminated. When he awoke, Sai asked to speak to a medic, feeling sick. After resting, the leaf nin had an enlightening conversation with Lavi who told him people hit each other to show affection. Sai took his words to heart. He went up to everyone he came across and immediately hit them in order to show them his affection. Unsurprisingly, his actions weren’t well received.
The subjects were taken to Bioschock’s Rapture in mid June. Sai stayed with Gaara during his time there. At this time, Sakura and Kakashi were both terminated, leaving Sai without any teammates. Yet, before the end of the month, both Naruto and Sakura were returned to the facility. Sai was later taken by the Doctors to be experimented on individually. He spent the rest of the month in a comatose state.
Personality
**Note: All Head-canon will be marked by an asterisk (*)
Sai was orphaned and taken into ROOT, a strict ANBU Branch whose motto states: "In Root... there are no names. There are no feelings... There is no past... there is no future. There is only the mission... The will of us Roots supports this great tree called Konoha, invisible, from within the earth." A motto he stringently lived by, until he began spending time as a member of Team Kakashi. By observing the way Team Kakashi worked together and experiencing their genuine devotion to each other, he began to slowly understand that emotions although irrational, weren’t always useless-a striking turn around for a ROOT soldier.
Sai's original name is unknown. He has no identity other than the one given to him for each mission. As it stands, the name “Sai” is given to him by the ANBU ROOT leader, an elder named Danzou, for the sake of his original mission-the assassination of Uchiha Sasuke. In ROOT, he was trained to become an emotionless shinobi from a very young age and put through some Bloody Mist training methods, which consisted of a final exam that pitted students who had closely worked together against each other in a death match. A system designed to kill their emotions completely. Sai would have been paired with his beloved brother, Shin, had he lived. However, Shin died before they could fight, and his death propelled the suppression of his emotions.
Sai is a very rational shinobi. He doesn’t let his emotions conduct his behavior while in battle, or during most situations. Sai is a quick study and takes it upon himself to read books on various subjects to further increase his understanding. Furthermore, his time in ROOT allowed him to gain some insight into political moves behind the scenes having been in close proximity to Danzou’s subtle moves while in charge of ROOT. Sai is an avid observer who pays a lot of attention to details, which allows him to see through an opponent’s strategy. This is shown when he’s able to understand his enemies plan before Yamato or Kakashi explains it to the team, and when he see’s through Yamato’s tricks when he’s first introduced. Furthermore, unlike most of his peers, Sai is able to see through Naruto’s mask of happiness and realizes the burden of a promise he’s been carrying all this time. He may not be able to understand obvious social norms, but small subtleties of a person he can detangle over time.
Due to his background, Sai is emotionally and socially crippled. He spent most of his life training to abolish his emotions in order to become a loyal tool for Danzou; thus, he doesn’t know how to interact with people in a social setting. When he first joined Team Seven, he didn’t have a real personality, and merely put up a friendly, albeit awkward, front. Sai tends to say the first thing that pops into his mind having never developed a social filter, a fact that often gets him in trouble with people, especially women. Later, he tries to learn how to interact with regular people by reading books on social conduct, thus; his behavior is often mechanically off. However, over time, he’s improved enough not to anger or annoy most people he talks to-with his first few comments.
Sai’s grasp on social norms and behavior is his downfall. He may be an intelligent shinobi, but when it comes to normal everyday interactions he is at a loss. He understands social behavior better now than when he was first introduced, but he still finds most of it irrational, and therefore, confusing. He constantly studies books on social behavior but his studies have done little to improve his social skills due to his mechanical approach to the subject. Emotions are not supposed to be read about, but experienced; thus, when he puts what he’s learned into practices he often fails to comprehend that people will not always react to a pre-set set of rules, and when they deviate from the “appropriate” response, he finds himself unable to compensate to the new path.
Sai knows there’s something wrong with him. It’s obvious. He is well aware of his lack of social skills, and tries to fix them by reading books, observing people, and by putting into practice what he’s learned. However, his lack of emotions makes it difficult to understand the true meaning behind many gestures, which his evidenced when he was fooled by Sakura’s fake smile right before she hit him for insulting Sasuke in front of her. Sai is Sasuke’s replacement, it was a position given to him by Danzou for the sake of his original mission. He shares many qualities with the missing-nin, a fact that both Sakura and Naruto note when they first meet him. However, despite those qualities, Sai has a childlike innocence Sasuke lost a long time ago.
Before, even the concept of simple emotions was hard for him to understand. Therefore, it was not surprising that his personal studies did little to improve his interactions with others, especially considering his rather blunt personality. Currently, Sai is still slowly learning how to identify stronger emotions, but most importantly, he’s learned how to understand some of them. For example, when he yells at Sakura his words clearly show that he understands Naruto’s pain. He compares it to a curse like what was done to him in ROOT.
Despite, his terrible social skills, he has many good qualities. He’s a diligent, selfless, patient, neat, highly intelligent and skilled ninja, who always strives to improve himself and be of use to those around him. Due to his upbringing, Sai takes his duties very seriously, and will do his best to carry out any mission given to him efficiently. He is very obedient and submissive to figures of authority. He is loyal to a fault. Blind loyalty. It was instilled in him by ROOT. However, he is slowly learning to question-at least in his mind if not out loud-irrational orders, an attribute he developed by watching Naruto and Team Kakashi.
Sai is a physical person*. He likes to use all five senses including his shinobi senses in order to study another, and will often touch without permission, a trait derived from his artistic side*. However, he knows he cannot observe people in this manner considering it often times invades their personal space, a concept he has yet to understand. In his studies, he’s learned that a smile puts people at ease, and so, it’s the best way to get past a difficult problem. A smile can fool anyone-a useful skill to any ninja, and although he doesn’t use his fake smiles all the time now, there are times they will still slip across his face.
At the core of himself, when all his ROOT training has been removed, Sai is essentially an intelligent artist, who perceives art as an imitation of a form*. Art has the power to stir emotion, and therefore dangerous just like his own art is dangerous. His art is a copy of a Form*. He doesn't have to feel true emotions in order to produce it. Without feeling emotions, he won't ever be able to produce true art*. Adding to that, it seems the passion behind a painting can add to its power as seen when he made the two human figures (The Benevolent Kings) that held enough physical power to catapult both Deidara and Sasori into Kankurou’s trap. It is possible that he infused extra chakra into his ink when he became passionate/emotional, which would account for the extra strength his two creations held during that strike. However, this display of emotions takes place in a later canon point. Until he can feel real/acknowledge his emotions, his art may then also begin to grow*.
Despite his strict upbringing, Sai has a few canon hobbies which include drawing pictures, painting, and calligraphy. At first glance, it is difficult to tell whether he enjoys painting or if he does it simply for training purposes. He says he has no emotional attachment to any of his paintings and has never named one. The only personal item that seems to have any significance to him is an old Picture Book he made as a present to his older brother when he was younger. The book is the tangible evidence of his bond to Shin, and thus, precious to him. When not busy with his duties, Sai can be found reading a book on social interactions or with a brush in his hand, painting away.
Personality Development in Previous Game:
When Sai first entered the facility he was cold, and single-minded. Without Danzou to give him orders, Sai subconsciously sought to find someone of appropriate rank to obey, yet he soon found that the facility offered no such person, a fact that forced the single-minded, order-driven shinobi to grow as a person. He soon found ways to occupy his time with productive activities such as practicing his drawing speed. He also trained in the Biodome, but soon found that these activities could not take up all his time, and so he widened his field. He continued his social lessons he’d started back in his timeline and began to try and improve his social skills by observing people and reading books. However, his first attempts ended in failure. He tried to compliment people, but ended up insulting them when he presented stark truths that were better left unsaid. Later at the end of the year, Sai realized that although his expressions were fake he himself did not want fake bonds-a startling discovery he made during wish week. At that time, Team Seven changed dramatically due to a granted wish. All three original members obtained a happy ending, an ending that included him, yet he wanted nothing to do with it. He had no desire to be part of a fake reality, nor did he want a friendship born from fiction.
As time passed, and he spoke to various people Sai slowly began to develop his own personality. He is driven by logic as well as his curiosity. While in the facility, he made a few friends who saw past his blunt ways and accepted him for himself. They helped him understand many social norms. His romantic relationship with Gaara and constant companionship helped him understand many things, and even coaxed his emotions to slowly begin to emerge, yet they still remain mostly dormant, and unrecognizable to the leaf nin. This is greatly emphasized when Sai dreamed of his brother’s death. He was taken aback by the dream and became distant with everyone. It was at this time that Gaara spent the night with him trying to comfort the shaken shinobi who did not realize how much Shin’s death had affected him.
When many of his friends began to be terminated, Sai began to question the value of creating or even keeping any bonds he had made at the facility when they could easily be taken away at a moment’s notice. He finally came to the conclusion that bonds at the facility were a waste of time. A conclusion that later sparked an argument between he and Gaara. An argument that ended making their bond stronger, and made him grow as a person. Later, when he was captured by sex slavers and rescued by Gaara, Sai slowly began to acknowledge his importance to him.
Why do you want to continue their history here:
The reason why I wanted to continue Sai’s history here is due to the similarities between Gargleblasted and Facility in terms of game mechanics. However, unlike facility, people are not prisoners nor freely provided for. They have to work to earn their keep, something Sai would greatly appreciate. He is a shinobi from ROOT, he was not brought up with the idea that his every need would be provided-though his role as a prisoner did not bother him. Transferring from Facility style living to Gargleblasted would not be difficult and the premise would be easier to accept as well. In addition, Sai grew a lot as a person in his time in Facility. When he first entered the prison he was socially inept and robotic. He was ruled by logic alone, and had no clue how to properly interact with other people. Yet, in time as he made friends and formed relationships, he slowly began to shed his mechanical personality. However, he still doesn’t know how to interact with people but he’s gotten a lot better at it. I want to continue his interactions here in order to further cultivate his personality to what it currently is in the manga. If I took him directly from the same canon point as I did in Facility, I would need to start from scratch. Furthermore, in order to reflect his growing personality I have taken him from a canon point a bit further into the manga.
Have you read up on how the game works?: What is the name of the Guide plug-in that allows characters to communicate with each other? Also, name three ways your character can earn money on the ship.
The Guide plugin application for the Guide is called FlamingFerret. Three ways to earn money are: missions, jobs, or steal.

[The device turns on as Sai moves it on the table. His back is to the device as he speaks to himself.]
… Maybe a long greeting.
[Pulls out a book out of nowhere, and starts reading from a certain passage.] “…short greetings are your best choice when speaking to people you have not seen in a long time.” [He stops reading and moves in front of a mirror, the camera capturing him perfectly through the reflection.]
I should practice first.
[With that Sai raises his hand and waves it around happily as if calling out to someone as his voice pipes up very loudly.] Hello! I hope everyone’s doing well!
[A pause, then suddenly his fake smile disappears.] I sound like Naruto-kun. Maybe I shouldn’t act so enthusiastic.
[He holds his chin between two fingers, thinking. Then. Lightbulb! He returns to the mirror. This time his smile is barely perceptible, his voice lower than normal.]
Hello everyone. I hope you’re having a pleasant evening.
. . . [He frowned.] I sound like that Hyuuga girl. [Thinks some more.] Something in the middle would be best.
[He turns to the device.]
…………..
[Only to find out it'd been recording him the entire time. Dark eyes immediately flick to the mirror, realizing what it must have captured. For a moment he stood very still weighing his options. It didn't take him long to make up his mind. Suddenly, he plastered a plastic smile on his face, deciding to still go through with it. With confidence most would not have after having their private session before a recording--because everyone does that--found out he does the greeting he had decided upon.]
Good evening, fellow inhabitants. I hope you haven’t done anything stupid today. Please have a pleasant day. [He then, reached over to turn off the device, sighing before the feed is cut.]

He took his time, allowing his hand to move instinctually across the page. He sat in silence his mind consumed by the image slowly coming to life. Time passed as he lost himself in his own world. A world that offered him a moment’s peace, where he had no orders, no responsibilities, no need to take on fake expressions.
He was free.
It wasn’t until he heard the silent laughter of his teammate’s approach that his hand finally ceased its movements. He lifted his face, his ears picking up Naruto’s jubilant voice as he tried to get Sakura’s attention. Without a word he closed the sketchpad and methodically gathered up his things, putting them away in his small black backpack. By the time he finished, his teammates had rounded a corner, coming into view.
He greeted them with a standard greeting he'd read in a book, and when he received a positive greeting in return, he made a mental note to read over the book to look for similar examples. He walked with them, observing their behavior in silence as he often did. Time passed in this manner until he finally decided to practice what he’d learned the day before.
Clearing his throat, he took a step toward them, a gesture that caught the attention of the two. They looked at him in expectation. His gaze shifted down then, while his index finger scratched at his cheek, which earned him a strange look from the pair.
“May I join your conversation?” he asked them.
Silence was his answer, which only made him nervous when they kept giving him the same odd look. Had he asked wrong? But the book had said he should politely insert himself into conversations in order to be welcomed and not considered rude. He knew his requests didn’t always come out right, but he didn’t know any other way to “politely” insert himself. And as the silence dragged on, he began to question himself. Had he asked the wrong way? Should he have waited longer? Should he have apologized for interrupting them first, and then asked to join? This and many similar questions went through his mind as he waited for a response.
Finally, it was Naruto who answered, the odd look he’d given him replaced by one of confidence as he told him he didn’t need to ask for things like that, and Sakura’s strange look also transformed into one of patience as she explained Naruto’s words in a more concise manner as she told him he could talk to them whenever he wanted too.
Relieved by their responses, Sai had a nice conversation with his teammates until he decided to use Ino’s nickname for Sakura-Forehead Girl. Considering his own nickname for her had ended with fists being thrown his way, Sai decided to use an already established nickname given by a friend. But to his surprise, he was soon dodging Sakura’s chakra enhanced fists, as she angrily yelled at him.
“---!”
He immediately took to the trees, jumping away from the enraged woman, and quickly went over the manner he’d used the nickname. Given that Ino was one of her childhood friends, he assumed the nickname itself was not the reason for this explosion, but the delivery. As he continued to dodge her fiery temper, Sai made sure not to let her land a hit. One hit from her deadly fists would do considerable damage to him, and he didn’t trust her in this state to pull back her punches. As he continued to evade her, he made a mental note to work on his delivery. Next time, he would get it right.
