jaejoong is on the floor of the apartment staring at the ceiling where the hole reaches up into the attic - almost touched the sky but didn’t quite make it through. someone told him the story of how the gaping, aching gash made it into the plaster, but he doesn’t remember.
junsu wouldn’t know. he sits down next to jaejoong like he’s not quite sure if this is where he should be, his hands like little circus acts on his thighs. “jae-“ he says and that’s as far as he gets before he remembers not to forget, and “-hyung.”
jaejoong doesn’t reply. the hand supporting his neck is slowly losing circulation. he smiles at the ceiling, and it takes one, two, five seconds before junsu lies down next to him.
he doesn’t ask what they’re looking at.
it’s one, two, five seconds before they’re closing the gaps, brimming over and filling the spaces of each other and there’s little breathy gasps from junsu - a smothered laugh from jaejoong. silence superimposed over the rustle of clothes and hands.
above them the ceiling gapes.
