I’ve been through so much since I got here. I’ve seen so much
Reavers, Alliance thugs, Alliance Operative, county hicks, bounty hunters, blues men, and Jayne. I’ve survived it all…with River, Kaylee…and Mal.
We were so different once he seemed heartless and cruel, cutthroat and violent, but he’s not. Not really he’s kind and thoughtful, sweet and caring. Has he changed or just the way I see him?
Have I changed I’ve shot a gun, I’ve broken bones and tried to kill, I’ve planned robberies and helped cover deaths…have I changed or was that me all along?
Did he become more like me or did I become more like him…or were we always like this.

“Pride, that is my sin,” the alliance operative thought as he looked around the engine room, “my pride almost destroyed you. And for what? A lie. I thought I was creating a friendly world, nicer world, better world. I let my pride blinded me to the truth.” The dark man whispered before placing a hand on the engine itself. “The truth is you will bring the better world not me.”
“You’re wrong, you know that right”
“Ah Captain Reynolds I didn’t see you.”
“No you didn’t, but you wrong pride ain’t your sin. If Pride was your sin the whole verse would know your name but it don’t. Hell I don’t even know it and we done near killed each other. No Pride ain’t you sin.”
“If not Pride then what?”
“Well I’ll tell you, it’s-”
