So Graham, if you’re like mostly people you thinking he’s vaguely familiar but I just can’t place him. Well he’s only in 13 episodes, ten in season four and three in the season after. He plays one of Riley’s frat buddies and team mates thus he makes up one third of the military portion of the Initiative. And that’s all he is, he never has any lines or contact with anyone else in the cast but Buffy and her only a couple times, so almost all his lines and scenes are with Riley or someone else with the Initiative, like the lines scatter thought this post.
Now that you have some idea who he is, why I love him. First I love background characters in general for two main reasons and Graham is an example of both reasons. First, he doesn’t know everything we know, he doesn’t know that the Scooby gangs are the good guys, he doesn’t know everything we and Buffy know about Adam. He’s the normal (or as normal as you get in Sunnydale) guy doing his best and working with what he knows, sadly the show doesn’t do as much with this as if could but oh well. Now the second reason is the plot doesn’t come out and tell us much about him, we only know what’s implied and that’s always fun to figure out just who Graham is. I like Characters like that.

Questions like why did he join the military (Season four never gives a service but I believe it’s been stated as Army by the writers or someone)? Where is home? Is he gay or straight? The show never comes out and tell us anything so we have to makes guesses. As a fanfic writer I love this.
Like the Military? We know he got a D in covert ops so it may not be his best skill set (but given he’s still in the unit and he’s not the one that blows it to Buffy that D must not be that bad) so maybe he’s proud to serve in the military, maybe his family have been military for some time so he had to do something to stand out around them, maybe he has a problem with lying and that's the D other wise he's good at it? Anyone of them work and that’s what I love about background characters, you can do so much with them without messing with cannon.

Okay and last, and I wouldn’t be being honest if I didn’t give this reason, He’s hot. Bailey Chase is one hot actor and I love a man in uniform and he does it so well. And I won’t pretend that doesn’t effect my feeling for Graham, it does but he’s just so cool and he’s a great soldier, he does live thought season four and seems to be the second in command of the unit that replaced the Initiative so go Graham. I could go on but I think I’ve grabbled enough for the moment. So I just love Graham.
