Nightclub tragedy verdict and photospbramanteAugust 20 2009, 02:27:45 UTC
I am really moved by the photos, Beatrice. You captured some gorgeous images of a big news event. Questions come to mind from the story you tell of what happened: Why has it taken nearly seven years for any action to be taken on the matter? How is it possible for people sustain a teeth gnashing state of mind for seven years? (To see the expressions on some of the faces, I could believe the tragedy occurred last week.) Maybe this is the question I really mean: WHY would anyone wish to remain in the depths of sadness/rage for that long? It seems like a waste of human/psychic energy. Are there any stories emerging about laws that have been enacted in response to the tragedy, to ensure better safety standards in nightclubs, for example? Jail sentences handed down -- justice? Perhaps, but it's disheartening to witness people stuck in misery and revenge, and to see that those sentiments are the big news. Where is the forward movement?
Great photos as always, Beatrice. I hope you weren't injured in your fall. Crowds can get very unpredictable so moving away seems like a very reasonable thing to do.
