S3 Ep 6 The Changeling - Castle Coch

Oct 15, 2010 21:21

On May 27th 2010 I spent the day at Castle Coch watching the filming of a scene.

I watched them set the drawbridge, place the banners and place lots of leaves of the tarmac roadway.

Then the carriage and horses arrived from The Devils Stuntmen of Buckinghamshire

Later they filmed the scene where Princess Elana comes down a drawbridge and has to put shoes on and then gets into the carriage.

No main cast but Miriam Margolyes, Simon Williams and Georgia King were there.

All of these 'stars' were really chatty to me and not a sign of the 3rd assistant to keep me or other visitors to the castle at a far distance. I watched the actors rehearse and Marie set the extras for the various angled shots they took. I never realised how many times and angles they film for a scene.

From a closeby table I watched the teams of the crew working. Also sitting at my table were the extras and It was so strange listening to their conversation, like another language the way they spoke about shots, directors and films they'd been in. I must say they were an absolute great bunch of guys and they just accepted me and included me in, wonderful.

Again a great wonderful day and lots learnt about the filming of Merlin. I was having a marvellous time and it continued.
