Any suggestions?

Next door to me there is a baby. I haven't seen it, only heard its almost constant crying. It is a really distressed cry. I'm pretty sure it is poor parenting skills and not actual cruelty. Sometimes it sounds like colic, but is through the day as well as the night. It tears at me. The poor thing must be crying 12-14 hours a day.

If you can, offer to help first. I think. In a general 'do you need anything, I have children and it's so hard when they keep crying' sort of way. Possibly point at helpful resources in the area.

In general: in my mind, a crying baby is a baby that trusts someone will come and help.

I can't help in any practical sense. I need to protect me first and getting dragged in to other people's problems is not going to protect me. I'm thinking of asking if the baby has a serious condition as a way in to pointing them at the health visitor.
