thanks for posting this. at least they aren't as change happy as Facebook. small concession but still.

I think they made this change because of the DDoS attacks from a couple of weeks ago, plus the horrible amount of spam crap that has been showing up lately. They just went about making the change in the wrong manner. They should have communicated it much better.

This was actually a good change on their part, they just communicated about it poorly. This is how they stop botnet spammers from creating URLs that point to pharma sites.

I agree that it was a good change but the lack of communication was a complete failure on their part. And because I think the change was tied into the DDoS attacks from a couple of weeks ago, it is double fail on their parts.
