Transition

We got up at 7:30 am.  There was red velvet waffle batter at breakfast; otherwise it was not impressive.  I've never seen so many dead deer by the side of the (often blood-splattered) highway.

We got into Lansing about 10:30 am.  Key stayed in the car parked by the capitol.  I went in by the underground heritage center.  There were several school tours going through and I listened to snippets of information as I walked through.  Under the lovely capitol dome was a piecemail glass floor.  The lights were very elaborate.

We decided to try for Indianapolis.  We drove by apparently a major Nestle factory and got McDonald's for lunch.  Because of traffic we got off on a country road and I drove for awhile and enjoyed the fields, but we decided to switch back to the interstate closer to Indianapolis.  We got to the capitol by 4:15 (it closed at five.)

The grounds were nice, with trees and statues.  Fat red squirrels roamed.  Key came in and we enjoyed the stained glass (despite construction on the outside.)  Workers continued to trickle out and the Senate, House, and Supreme Court were closed, but the occasional office was open late.

We went back to the car and planned our route while dogwalkers walked by.  A giant Taylor Swift banner dominated one building (she had a concert there soon.)  We continued our drive and stopped at a Cracker Barrel for a sit-down meal and then at the nearby Walmart.

We got back to the AirBNB at 9:15 pm.  We chatted with the folks and I finished a book before going to bed at 12:45 pm.

Well, I've again been meaning to post for awhile and just haven't found the time.  Additionally for my birthday I got Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King.  I haven't had the time to watch any of them yet.

I'm not sure why I haven't accomplished much.  I barely got any writing done either, but it's not like I've been as busy as I was in October.  Where has my free time gone?  I've been playing more Assassin's Creed II and been reading as usual, but that doesn't seem like it should account for it all.

For the past few weeks neighborhood decorations have been in transition between the people who left their Halloween decorations up for awhile and the people who immediately got their Christmas decorations up.  I appreciate the couple people who actually put Thanksgiving decorations up.
