Of late, I've been helping a few new players (who are also people I know in real-life) get acquainted with EVE Online. I think they're enjoying it.
A lady-friend I'm quite fond of (but is not really my lady-friend, so to speak - though isn't with anyone right now, anyway... moving on) has been working her way through her Gallente race's ships and already can fly battlecruisers after a few short weeks. I have given her a Myrmidon I had used somewhat whimsically, the 'Aiakos' (named after the mythical King of Aegina, the island upon which the Myrmidons sprang forth, created from ants by Zeus to populate Aeacus's domain - I use Aiakos since it is closer in appearance to the original Greek script, Αἰακός, or Alpha-iota-alpha-kappa-omicron(acute-accent)-sigma). Since I'm still mainly a Minmatar pilot, I still make use of the Hurricane (Kaminari) more effectively.
She has chosen to rename it Arashiko, which amuses me. I generally associate with 'Arashi' (storm), and -ko is usually a feminine name modifier, I believe. 'Shugo Arashi' is a name I've used in certain things, as well. I also use related terminology, such as Kaminari (thunder, lightning, thunderbolt) and
Tenjin (a scholar/storm deity of Shintoism) for a few of my hardware or game vehicles.
Her current plans involve Leadership, Planetary Management, and Command Ships (my suggestion, since she was already interested in Leadership - thus the battlecruisers, as well).
Another friend has taken an interest in exploration and the sort of work that goes along with the 'Field Technician' certificate (since the two generally go hand-in-hand). He's already looking into a Noctis. Probably should also grab somebody's unwanted Eidolon.
