Squee! Booth fic!

*blush* Ahem. That was the mun speaking. Brennan, I'm pretty certain, has never squee-ed in her life.

Hee! If she ever squees, I will want to see it. That would be a historic event.

And thanks! Does it read OK?

I think it reads great. And very Booth-ish.

She said, under her regular LJ name, just to make things confusing.

Yay! Thanks. That means a lot.

I do so enjoy when things get confusing.

I like it. A lot. I think it does a nice job of conveying a where-he's-coming-from, and the turn at the end is logical and telling.

I don't think, from my watching of the show, that Booth regrets his service, but he regrets the necessity of it, if that makes any sense. I'm not at all sure I'm explaining it well. But it's a feeling I get from this, even if I can't articulate it.

The only problems I see are techinical -- repetition of "cousins" in the third paragraph, and I think there's an "as" missing in front of "symbolism."

But I really liked it.

Thanks! And I agree with you on the service - I sort of think it brought Booth a lot of good things, and he's very much glad he did it, but I'm sort of trying to pinpoint a reason he didn't go career Army, and I think it's going to take a while to get there. It does make sense, and I see where you're going. The service itself was worthwhile, but some of the things he did were maybe not. If that makes sense...

I'm so glad you liked it.

Right. Booth is proud of his service, he's not ashamed to have been in the Army, or the Rangers. But you can regret a thing without being ashamed of it, I think, and I think that's where he is.

He's still a person who seeks to right wrongs, and bring transgressors to pay for their transgressions, but he does so openly and above board nowadays. It's the same and yet so very different to go from sniper's bullets to arresting people and handing them over to trial and (in many cases, since we are dealing with Virginia) state-sanctioned execution.

Also, I have Booth icons for you. Remind me.
