Concessions to quell Dems: Check.
Still allowing passage of neo-fascist legislation to allow totalitarian Presidential control: Check.
I think he said a lot of good things, but it's paying lip service to a nation that is largely becoming frustrated with his leadership. That's why you'll notice the changes in his phrasing...
No more "victory," now we have "success"
No "escalations," but we have "surges"
So on, and so forth...
While he pays this lip service, he's allowing the passage of legislation that makes criticizing the government illegal in a public forum unless you are a registered political lobbyist and report all your actions to Congress.
Let's combine that with Gonzales' latest remark about the appeals process and habeas not being guaranteed or protected rights, throw in a Citizens' Volunteer Reserve (non-enlisted power without accountability,) and you've got the makings for Punishment Park.
