I think it is part bitterness; I have finally found something to do that I really think I could enjoy doing for the next 20 years or so (and that it is possible -- within an everyday definition of the word -- to make a living doing), and then be unable to find a place to do it. And the job market is bleak here for upper level teachers; too few students the next 10 years, and the old folks are not retiring quite yet. After a few "sorry, no room for you next term" I'm starting to become desperate.

Combine with a few other frustrations in life, a spring that has put the proverbial wall *very* close, and a bit of a mid-life "is this all?" feeling and the result is inevitable. Depressing moaning and self-pity. Ignore me.
