Sock dryer

This is a home-made version of the crappy plastic ones you sometimes see in Sweden. You get 16 clothespins, that can be suspended in some suitable spot (in my case over a woodstove) to dry socks, wet mittens, cloth sanitary pads, underwear, etc. And it breaks down for storage!

That looks very practical. I'd seen said crappy plastic versions while I was in Ireland, and they'd turned me off the idea, but this is much, much nicer.

And quite easy to make; anyone with a decent saw, a knife and a drill can make one. I'm currently working on a pole lathe, so there might be a nicely turned version made just to try things out (but one still would need the rectangular middle section to make the joinery work).

For an ultra quickie version find a spruce with a few nicely distributed branches near the top, cut off, peel the bark and attach clothes-pins with string. If one uses a pegged scarf joint for attaching a top hook one could even have version that had no metal hardware (apart from the clothes-pin springs, of course). But not a take down version.
