Not bad. I made dinner for A's mom again, she has failing eyesight and still likes to host Xmas eve for A and his brother, his brothers son, her girl friends from church. I did it last year and It was fantastic. This year was better. Turkey, potatoes, gravey, stuffing, brussel sprouts and of course my Trifle was a huge hit. Im an old fashioned ( Read more... )

Man, that fucking sucks about the Secret Santa stiffing you again. I wonder if it was the same person as last year? Don't bother with it next year sez I.

Hope you get better soon.

Happy New Year in advance.

Don't laugh at me! =p I'm wearing a flapper style dress. It's actually not a costume dress though, it's a modern take on it.

Your not a bitch! You're a Victorian snob ;-)

PPS I'm not doing Secret Santa next year. I totally flopped and my giftee hated his gift. *sigh* Dudes are hard to buy for.

You will be gorgeous. Im a fashion historian, so I look a whole lot deeper than most. Just me being bitchy and catty miow! I am an elitist snob when it comes to historical fashion...and most people just dont care.

You didnt fail...he is very VERY hard to buy for. He has a huge knowlege base and is tremendously picky. You did the right thing...the same as I would have done in fact!

I think I can guess who nalene's giftee was ;) I'd have totally flopped with him myself. I didn't even understand his list of suggestions from last year.

I will not be dressing as a flapper at Vendetta- I'm not even buying a new dress. I've got a perfectly good evening gown that's Close Enough and reasonably right shoes and stockings. I also have No Time, even if I were inclined to go dress hunting.

I do hope to see you there- I've wee giftees for a few folks (I am likely to miss most Xmas Mals from now on, since spending the holiday with diskerror's family generally means going out of town).

Hi honey! I'm glad you found another part time job. Maybe it will become a full time job, you never know whom you might meet at these things.

I'll remind Seth when he gets home that he still has to help you with your website- we both want you to have one that (a) you are happy with and (b) that you understand how to use and update with photos and captions and things. It's not hard once you get the hang of it, no more difficult than LJ. I have one but I haven't done anything with it, unfortunately. I just don't seem to have time. Either that, or I'm just lazy, take your pick. :P

Incidentally, Grace knows a lot about starting businesses- if you get a chance, have coffee or tea with her! She may have some good advice.

Well, I'm WAY too short to wear most of the "evening dresses" from the 20s - with the long sheer overdress and short slips underneath. So I'm wearing a "flapper" dress. And am damn proud of it - even if it was only 6 months in the 20s, it still applies as 20s!

And some of the historical "flapper" dresses are just GORGEOUS. And expensive. but GORGEOUS!

this site has some of THE most drool worthy vintage dresses. And the first "flapper" dress is far more ornate, but along the same lines of the one I'm wearing to Vendetta
