Could it be a class D fire extinguisher, which sprays salt of some kind?

I know Priyanko had one like two years ago.

At first I thought this was silly, but I am almost positive you are correct. (a) I found a fire extinguisher pin on the stairs between the second and third floors, (b) the fourth-floor fire extinguisher is missing, and (c) our fire extinguishers use ammonium phosphate base, which is yellow. So... good call. :)

Eric, I encourage you to bring this to the attention of the RAs/RHs. Not only is it not particularly healthy for someone to inhale this stuff, it's also a fire hazard for residents to be haphazardly wasting the extinguishers.

Isn't "You may not touch fire extinguishers" part of the First Unbreakable Rule of Housing? I recall that this was taken seriously when I was in the dorm.
