Yeah, it's generally bad if icicles start to form on your body as you dry off. We had a few furnace issues when living in Chatham. There were a few mornings we woke up to the house being in the 40s. Not fun.
Glad to hear the holidays seem "normal" for you this year. I'm sure it has a lot to do with feeling somewhat more settled in your life.
I love Wonderful Life too. I always cry when he yells at the kids, and then tries to apologize, and they cringe from him. Jesus. And when after he leaves, one of them says "Should I pray for Daddy?"
It takes years for one to recover from the death of a parent, and that emotion is amplified at Holiday time. Life changed for me after Easter 1998, the last "formal family dinner" that my father attended. Words don't explain it, and yet you probably know what I'm getting at. You understand. Done.
I'm very happy for you in that you feel like a new happiness has been found. Your family (and I would include Kate in that) has regrouped and is now a stable unit again. I look forward to seeing y'all over the next week or so, be it here or "up there". Doesn't much matter...
