I've actually been listening to them for probably a year and a half, I'm just REALLY into them right now.
But even if that wasn't the case, I don't think it matters when or how I heard of them, just that right now I'm so into them. that's all I care about. I'd prefer to rock out than worry about whether I'm behind the times.
hey, this reminds me....would you still be wanting to do that skit/dance warped lolita thing to that demented song called Missed Me for burly-q at some point, hmmm?
On tenner's recommendation, I purchased "A for Accident" and I'm not that pysched (yet). I did recognize Coin-Operated Boy from hearing it on the Dr. Demento Show, but alas, my first gut reaction to the rest of the music was "odd."
I will listen some more, as I'm firmly of the belief that you can't like a song or an album until you've heard it at least three times, but I'm dissapointed that I didn't get a WAY COOL moment. Alas, again.
I did purchase a fairly excellent album of fiddle and guitar by a lady (she plays fiddle) who's name now escapes me. I heard her on Weekend Edition a few months ago but have only now gotten around to buying the album. Next time I run out to the car, I'll bring in the case and post the name here.
As for Dresden Dolls, it sometimes takes a bit to get into them. I listened for a while, thought they were cool, but didn't have the AHA cool experience until recently. Before that, I was as much psyched on them because of their stage shows. Keep listening...have patience! :)
BTW robin - you should give a listebn to an artist named Jill Tracy. Album called Diabolical Streak. You like DD, you most likely will like her too. I have the album if you'd like to borrow, copy, whathaveyou.
i feel the same way about Cloud Cult! is it bad to listen to a song over and over until you know every piece of harmony just in case the next time they play live they pick you out of the crowd and ask you to sing backup for them?
