tenner left this morning for Massachusetts after a nice relaxing weekend at home. I tried to make sure that we did lots of positive, affirming things that made him feel good about his life, and that made him realize that he is part of a team that loves him, supports him and is there to help him through this tough time. You're so right! Our lives aren't all about our careers, and I'm not going to care about this job in 20 years. I'm going to be thinking about how wonderful my kids, husband, family, and friends are. It's really easy to forget that, but that perspective-refresher always brings you back to the same "theme." I think it's so important to have a great "community" of people surrounding you. It's a lot of work to keep that community, but it's so worth it.

It's September 2nd, so it's a new month, with new beginnings!

They're a big presence here. (They sponsor the "party deck" part of PNC Park, and are also a big employer in the area).

Temping is probably a very good move; I'm ashamed that I hadn't thought of and suggested it earlier. I temped one summer when I was trying to stay in Troy. Because I tested well on computer use skills, I was first out of the gate for anything that required more than just a receptionist or typist.

My first assignment ended up being my last, as the little Guilderland Community Center organization I was working for arranged for my stay to be extended when I was able to do a rudimentary database project for them. I nabbed an internship back home just as that monthlong assignment ended, and all was well.

But it was a good experience... paid pretty decent too. I have a feeling as soon as someone gets you into an office and realizes how skilled a worker you are, you'll find work for as long as you need it.
