I'm sitting at my computer, listening to the rain fall gently outside. My cup of Earl Grey tea is next to me, an empty bowl of Cream of Rice cereal with nectarines and honey next to the tea. My tummy is ( Read more... )

Your story is inspiring to me, because of where I am (as you are well aware). Thanks for sharing. The job sounds like fun, and it sounds like, given the woman you are replacing, that you are going to impress them big-time.

The commute you have is nothin', especially compared to MA commutes. And "no traffic"!!!

I LOVE the part about the pet peeve being grammar. What a dream (to my nerdy little self)!

Have a great time this week enjoying the rest of the little things! It's well deserved. Congratulations again

what is it about Albany and issues on commuting? psychowoof September 19 2003, 09:09:56 UTC
We then have a short discussion where Chris asks about the commute from Latham, and could that be a problem.

Having grown-up where it took 20 minutes just to get to my highschool and a minimum of 30 minutes to get to any sort of mall or large grocery store, I still don't understand the obsession with commuting in Albany.

People looked at me like I had 4 heads when I went to SUNY and commuted in from Waterford. "How can you stand the drive?" I was continually bombarded with. As long as you avoid the Northway during rush-hour, it's not bad. Don't even mention when I lived out in Chatam and it was a 45 min. commute on a good day (let's not talk about NYSDOT and their lack of plowing past N. Greenbush on a regular basis in snow storms).

I just don't understand it!
