I was placing them as even now so that later it would be easier to tell how FAR they would need to be tweaked. I didn't really have much of an idea how I was going to go about that, so thanks for the idea of using the test-builds as a litmus of desirability/usefulness. I'll certainly be doing that. I'm thinking of raking the base skills under each attribute by how heavily they were purchased, and the more heavily purchased the base skill, the more expensive it will be.

Magical theory? Is this the same game you said you weren't using the magic rules for? Would magical theory then be focused on illusions and tricks?
And I notice that writing is missing from the list of the arts. While quite different in practice, I'd think painting and drawing would be under one specialty skill if you wanted to place writing in there and maintain symmetry.
