We split 6 months ago after I had my stroke. Her depression worsened and she hadn't been taking care of her health very well after that.
We were friendly, but she isolated herself so I had minimal contact. She has been complaining of chest tightness last week but attributed it to anxiety or maybe a chest infection (she was prone to those).
She called me at 630am Sunday, saying she needed an ambulance but I needed to help her get ready first. So I went down, got her minimally dressed, called ambulance. She left at 835.
I went to the hospital separately (scooter won't fit). When I got there, they sent me to the family waiting room and called her mother, who arrived shortly.
At 10am the doctor came in and told us she had died around 940am of heart failure. Still waiting on the autopsy, but they believe she had a clot in her lung, which led to chest pain, difficulty breathing, and overworking her heart. They tried clot busters and CPR for 45 minutes.
Finn has been taken in by her friend Virginia who already has two cats. Finn likes one of them and hates the other - typical. He also literally bit the hand that tried to feed him, so he's still an asshole :-D
I am making do. We split after my stroke but obviously stayed in touch. It's hard being disabled but I get by with a little help from my friends.
You were always very important to her - I would frequently hear Shane this, Shane that, did I tell you about when Shane was so awesome, you know what Shane did this time?
You made her very very happy, frequently. Thank you

I'm now at her house packing her effects.
