Skeptical me, I've been wondering if maybe this isn't all some scheme to gather more media attention for their show and GET people watching. Is this possible? It wouldn't be the first time the public has been manipulated by some strategy to gain publicity.
This person's take on the show is one reason I quit watching. I find her to be very condescending to her husband, and way too controlling of the kids' every move for my tastes.
Mom & I were talking about it after the show; we started watching because it was a fun show about their family. If it's gonna be about them making it separately, we're not interested. That's not what I thought they were about, either (and I really hope that it isn't a ratings stunt; that would truly be low). And I wish more people felt the same way. I also wish people were just as concerned about their own marriage as they are about Jon & Kate's. What would we see if our daily lives were broadcast for the world to see? It's time for them to step away from the TV show & focus on repairing their marriage & family. They've made it very clear in the past that they are not about divorce; and I think it's time they focused on that instead of book tours and the bottom line ($$). As a Christian, it hurts me to see them not appear to even try after what they've said about marriage and family in the past. They are completely ruining that witness to the watching world.
Good point. I'm sure no one's marriage is above reproach, and their lives are an open book.
They don't really seem to indicate they are comitted to working on their problems. If anything, Jon seems pretty done, and their body language speaks volumes. Maybe that's just one take on one interview though. I've not seen many.
It was fun to watch when they acted like a real family. Jon went to work, Kate was home with the kids, and their life could have been anyone else's. Yeah, Kate acted like a shrew sometimes, but I always chalked it up to the stress of having so many children and not enough time or resources.
Then came the trip to Oprah, the free trips, the vow renewal in Hawaii, the tummy tucks and hair plugs, the million dollar house. All of a sudden, I wasn't watching 'everyfamily.' I was watching people with unlimited resources parade their kids around. It got creepy.
I'm happy they struck it big. Everyone knows I'm a huge fan of capitalism. But I don't believe in taking the money over my family, and that's what they have done. I wish they had been big enough people to pull the plug when the trouble started brewing - goodness knows by then they had made enough to live comfortably. Maybe not as extravagantly as they do now, but definitely comfortably.
I agree with this. I loved the show when it was just watching a regular family doing regular family things & how they handle so many kids. I've never liked the way Kate treated Jon & how Jon just takes it, but like you I chalked it up to stress. I can't say I've NEVER spoken to my husband that way when I was stressed out. (although my husband does not take it like Jon! LOL) I think there was ONE episode where he actually talked back to her. He told her to "pull the stick out" or something & there was an uproar. They spent the entire interview portion talking about it & how horrible it was. Whatever
