Linux: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

It seems like in the tech world, there is one constant you can always count on: everything you use will be just one step shy of perfection.

Canonical's latest LTS update of Ubuntu is a prime example of this. Pretty much everything works out of the box. There's a few annoyances with the new indicator applet not yet supporting Thunderbird, and some Read more... )

The new GDM is a clusterfuck, too, but it's worse on fedora.

Yeah, I'm pretty much not even going to bother with GNOME 3.0. I'm really hoping XFCE matures enough by then.
