Lately I have been thinking a little about prioritizing things in my life. Prioritizing burlesque (what else-it is my only hobby) is a big and visible and comparatively easy-to-tackle issue. The balance of hassle to payoff has shifted a lot since I moved to DC.

Honestly i would do the gig. I know it may not be the best gig in the world but as you said you don't want to get the reputation of being a flake.

And vienna is actually not that dead of an area. Tysons corner is mclean and vienna which is a pretty big suburb type area with lots of upcoming bars and scenes.

In terms of getting there, you can take the orange line to vienna. If memory serves its about a $4 train faire roundtrip.

I'm going to fall on the "flake if you want to" side. It may be a conflict of interest for me, but I'm going to put my argument out there anyways!! Here goes:

1. You almost never flake. In all the times I've booked you - and obviously I've booked you a LOT over the course of nearly 2 years, you cancelled like...2 or 3 times. All with plenty of advance notice. Flaking now is not an indicator that you will continue to flake in the future.

2. Producers (or whatever) are always dealing with cancellations. As someone who has a minimum of 1 act cancel for EVERY SINGLE friggin' show (with the exception of Blue Bayou, once upon a time)...tons of people cancelled their appearance at the festival this year. Tons of people cancel their auditions, classes, or other expected attendences ALL THE TIME. It's really not *that* annoying, especially if it's one time and the person cancelling is doing so in a manner that I consider respectful (not calling would be intolerable!). Everyone understands that last minute cancellations happen

Yeah... the producer-savvy side of me is saying this probably isn't a big deal. They haven't started promoting yet and it's 16 days out. Which raises questions but also tells me that it wouldn't be a huge loss if I cancelled- ?

Ugh, my feelings are constantly swinging back & forth on this one.

Will you be in town/free the next weekend - Oct 15-17?
