Knitter's help, please?

My sister-in-law knits, and I'd like to give her a gift certificate to a good source of yarns and supplies, but I don't knit, and so I don't know what would be good sources of supplies.

I know some of you knit (like tpau, I think?), so could you please help me? What on-line or non-local stores would be good for a gift certificate? She lives in ( Read more... )

I knit, but I'm not a snob for knitting supplies. My friends seem to value Lion Brand yarn above any other mass-marketed threads. If you want to go with a safe gift, I would go with that. :)

I found this while trying to find a yarn store I remembered in CA -- the one I was thinking of is out of business, but you may find this useful. it's a review of yarn stores. Some do internet.

I'm also a yarn-snob. I've never actually ordered anything from patternworks, but I drool over their catalog every time it comes in. Definitely go for patternworks.
