Yeah, I think we are. But I think the only ones who realize it are us social liberals and the blinder-wearing neo-con republicans like Bush/Cheney/Rumsfied et all (who can ignore it by focusing only on advantaging the already advantaged, like themselves.)
The growing ranks of the poor and the rapidly shrinking middle class, who are losing the class war, don't even realize they're involved in one. They're not even fighting--lots of them are aiding the enemy. They're acting like Andrew Aguecheek consorting with Toby Belch in Twelfth Night.
I sometimes think that the reason the class war is being won by the rich is because they don't believe the poop that class doesn't matter here in the egalitarian US. The poor and mids still think they can be just the same by effort, not class ties.
As far as I can tell, in every political issue I've been involved in, who you know is significantly more important than the righteousness of your cause.
"not winning the class war" would be a darn sight less dire if those who were winning felt any obligation/noblesse oblige to provide somehow for the 'less fortunate.' If they'd even pay their taxes like the rest of us, that would go a long way.

Don't you think we already are in a class war?
