Nothing will be done. The vet thinks that the tumour is benign, and since it doesn't bother Nyx and the circulation isn't being cut off and he has full use of the leg, we should just leave it alone. As his lump isn't causing trouble and seems to be benign, leaving it alone sounds like the right thing in the circumstances. I'm very glad to hear that he didn't need to have any operations.

In my research on cats and tumours and amputation, I found a great deal of material on injection site tumours, caused by rabies and other vaccinations, some of which were malignant. There's research and potential ingredients changes in recommended vaccines, and many owners of house-only pets are refusing to vaccinate. After this, so am I!
Again, thanks. Anything I'd done would have been as traumatic (or more) for me as for him, and my friends have rallied round so sweetly.
